When the situation is so grossly unfair as it is, it would be nice for trigg to show some balls. The majority of football people, fans, and those within the industry would support it because they know this is bullshit.

You betcha he would. Collingwood have gone to extraordinary lengths to rid themselves of the racism stigma, following the Nicky Winmar incident years ago.

If this incident happened at Collingwood then MR would have been out the door before he could even blink.

No club - Collingwood more than most - can afford to be tarred with the brush of racism. Make no mistake about it, the directive came down from AFL House and Trigg had no choice but to make the decision he did. I feel sorry for him as the meat in the sandwich.

I feel even more sorry for MR, who has been steamrollered by Vlad because of comments made about GC & GWS. MR has done absolutely nothing wrong.

Seriously, if Rendell had done that interview last week when he wanted to the issue would have been headed off before spiralling out of control.

Didak, Shaw... still at Collingwood. They'll cop a bit of bad press from time to time without soiling themselves and throwing everyone out of the club at the first hint of trouble.

Clearly the AFL decides what we are to do in a given situation, we immediately accept it and then Trigg just delivers the AFL message to all of us.

I'm actually sitting here feeling quite stressed after watching that and trying to process it.

Matty R was trying to push a very proactive initiative to setup indigenous players to be better prepared, and ultimately more successful in playing AFL footy. I don't give a flying **** how poor his comments were, or even if they offended people, you don't hang someone like that out to dry, you don't prevent them from having a chance to present their own case.. you support them, provide eduction if needed (it doesn't sound like it is to be honest) and you address the issue.

What the **** was the club and the AFL thinking. At best they've reacted without getting all the information. And now look like assclowns. At best.

Any indigenous posters want to weigh in with their thoughts on it? I'm really curious to appreciate how someone who can understand the complexities better would view all that Matty R just said.

They almost certainly have some kind of filter to prevent people from sending them viruses, and those filters generally sift out general abuse as well.

This is so so true. People bag Eddie but there's no way this would happen to a Collingwood person. He would have cited 30 examples of the positive influence and contributions he's made to the indigenous cause, lined up 20 character witnesses and sucked the oxygen out of this beat up in nano second.

A throw away line to emphasise the desperate need to do something positive about what Matt percieved to be a serious issue and the guys been painted a racist without, up until tonight, a right of reply.

This is a disgrace and the AFC hierarchy needs to seriously consider it's position. And the Bullfrog heading up the AFL well, don't start me!!!

I love my team but the administation needs to go.

I seriously hope there's strong support from the aboriginal people that Matt quoted in that heartbreaking conclusion to his interview tonight, he deserves it.

So you think Trigg is 100% to blame for this Carl? Seriously, get a life. Trigg is about 1% to blame for this and the AFL the other 99%, how people can't get this is beyond me.

Even accepting those arbitrary numbers, I think we've all come to expect that Demetriou is completely lacking any shred of integrity, and will always act in the interest of making more money for the league (and himself.)
I think some of us still cling to the, clearly massively outdated, idea that the C in AFC stands for "Club." It's just as disheartening each and every time this is proven to be false.
Of course Trigg was pressured into it, and that, in itself, is a disgrace. But that doesn't make him blameless. A wrong has been committed against an employee of the "club," and he was part of it.

i honestly have had no problem with Trigg before 30 mins ago.

I have to wonder if the same people condeming Trigg tonight would have done so a press conference on Friday night with Rendell by his refuting the claims that Vlad made the day before.

How would it feel to have the entire football media label our club racists over the weekend?

Even tonight Vlad tried to get in first. By being on On the Couch. However Rendell did not have to follow the "company line" now and told it as it was. Would anyone believe him if he was wearing a Crows shirt after Vlads attack on Thirsday.

Vader, Trigg is a disgrace. He should of suspended Rendell pending a full investigation. Rendell would of come out clean. He said NOTHING racist at all. He was trying to help the Aboriginal players. He NEVER said he 'wouldnt pick up kids unless they had one white parent"...

This is my question where do u draw the line? You can not seem to say anything these days as its so sensitive to even say a word bad about a aboriginal community ya dont have to be too smart to know there is a big gap between living in a remote aboriginal comminity to "working" 6 days a week at a afl club.
There is currently no pathways. Look how liam jurrah , amos frank, relton roberts, have from? Somtimes the transition from community life to afl life is just a far to great of gap in a short period of time. What mr said is 100% spot on get the best into schooling and a pathway because the transition is just far to great

Eddie McGuire is the only club CEO/President with the power base to be able to pull that off. Anyone else would just get steamrolled. Trigg had no choice after Vlad made his ignorant (and vendetta driven) opinion made known mid-week.

Rendell will be employed with another AFL club within 2 months. Hopefully Adelaide, but probably not. Fingers crossed he sues the arse out of AD & the AFL for defamation of character.

Now this is a better idea. Emailling Trigg and say we want Rendell back, to at least finish his work on the Superdraft. Be even better if some sponsors got on board as well

Be interesting to see how the media go on this. Backing Rendell, or Vlad who gives them their press passes.
