Hey everyone, I was just interested about everyone's opinions and experiences about Roller Coasters. Such as the best ones you've been on, do you like, why do you like/dislike them. Also any tips people have on how to get the best enjoyment out of them or ways of overcoming fear.

I'll start by saying that although I put myself on roller-coasters and enjoy them I really get no fun out being utterly scared. I just hate the feeling of adrenalin I suppose. I don't mind ones which strap me in and follow a track like a traditional roller-coaster but ones such as the giant drop scare me shitless. The is a probably because my girlfriend is determined to take me on it and I just know I'm going to have to back down...

'Battlestar Galactica' at Universal Studios in Singapore is incredible.

5x better than the Lethal Weapon/ Superman Ride at Movie World.

Been done before, but I love rollercoasters. Superman at Movieworld is the best for me.

I used to be deathly afraid of rollercoasters, until I just put up and told myself that it's just a rush in the stomach and a few loops. No big deal.

It isn't, but I can't get enough of them now.

Giant drops etc freak me the hell out. I went on the small one at Luna Park, and they had to stop it halfway through so I could get off. The freefalling feeling is too much for me. I'll probably man up one day though..

Rollercoasters can get ****ed.

love em. have been to a few coaster-centric parks in the us in the past 18 months and am planning another trip next year that will contain cedar point and others.

some of my favourite rides are goliath and tatsu at magic mountain, manta (pretty much the only reason i went to seaworld orlando and i wasnt dissapointed), el toro, nitro & kingda ka at six flags new jersey, sheikra at busch gardens (worth the extra wait for front row) and xcelerator at knotts berry.

Been on that one believe it or not! Haven't been on superman but yes its defintitely much better then lethal weapon.

The Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster at Universal Studios very nearly killed me. My parents then thought it was appropriate to buy the DVD of my experience. I've hidden it somewhere in the house, can't actually remember where...

thats a cool ride. the coaster by itself wouldnt be anything flash (much better if that initial vertical climb was a drop instead) but with the music (kickstart my heart was my choice every time ) its great fun.

I thought the much hyped hulk coaster there was pretty average

Went towards the end of 2011 (was 18) @ QLD, and found all the rides there a piece of piss. The 'Giant drop' I went on 4 times (not the best weather), the Tower of Terror 2 times, BuzzSaw 3 times - and plenty of other rides. Lethal Weapon at Movie World, whatever else there was... Think having been on those rides on two separate occasions prior to last year, I knew exactly what I was up for and knew there was nothing to worry about. Enjoyed them to the fullest (didn't on first 2 occasions being young).

My mother kept reminding me as a kid "be a man not a mouse" as a joke, and even though I laughed it off and still do - it's a great attitude to have for things like this. No use pulling out of opportunities that have little-to-no risk, and a decent reward factor. The least it'll be is bragging rights towards a select few.

Wouldn't mind heading to the US and checking out some of their best soon enough. :thumbsu:

Haha was waiting for something like that. :thumbsu:

Just trying to build his (or her) confidence up.

Andrew Garfield, been in movies such as The Social Network and played Spiderman/Peter Parker in the recent reboot of the series.

The music was definitely a nice touch, but I was too busy experiencing extreme torture to enjoy it :p

I actually found the Tower of Terror (on a previous trip, to the one in California) to be the scariest ride I've been on. Not knowing where you're going is terrifying. I didn't go on it again during my last two trips..

I liked the Hulk ride, it's pretty smooth and I was just happy to go on a ride without a queue haha. I just wish I hadn't missed the Aerosmith roller coaster, that's meant to be the best one.

I still get pretty nervous before roller-coasters and the like; it's a lack-of-control thing.

Before I'm about to chicken out, I say to myself "go up to that 10 year old who just stepped off the ride and explain to them why you're too scared." Works every time.

only been on the Superman and Lethal Weapon rollercoasters at movieworld on the Gold Coast -

The Scooby-Doo ride was rather fun too but I don't know if that counts as a rollercoaster... same with the Mad-Mouse at the Royal Adelaide Show...

Best part about the Movieworld trip was that we snuck in for free... twice! 12 months apart from each other... First time there the Lethal Weapon wasn't running so went on the Superman, the 2nd time it was the opposite.. so it worked out well...

First time we got away with it scot free and spent the whole day there... 2nd time security came and kicked us out, but this was about 2 hours after getting in, and we had to be in Newcastle by the end of the day, so it was probably good they kicked us out when they did!

yep i was watching the social network the other night. i forgot about that till i read that post. solid movie.

Recently went to Orlando so I've been on the ones at Islands of Adventure (Hulk and the Harry Potter ones which were surprisingly pretty good), the Aerosmith coaster at Hollywood Studios (much better than Space Mountain for 'in the dark' coasters) and the two Seaworld ones (Manta and Kraken).

Manta was pretty awesome, only lying down coaster I've done. I actually liked them all, didn't think I would but once you get on it's much more exhilarating than scary. Classic pictures they take as well.

Also did the giant drops (Doctor Doom at IoA, Tower of Terror at HS)...thought they would be terrifying but not really. Just a weird bit at the top when you first go weightless :thumbsu:

Hit up some in the States this year. Loved Goliath, X2, Viper and Tatsu at Magic Mountain. Hulk Coaster and Rip Ride Rockit (or Wtf its called) were great too. Space Mountain 2 and Aerosmith coaster at Paris Disney were amazing.

However my favourites of all time are in Australia, and are my favourites for sentimental reasons. The Demon (was at Wonderland, now somewhere in Germany I believe) was wicked! Hope someone else remembers this. Scooby-Do coaster is just fun. And the Corkscrew (now Sea Viper) was the first upside down coaster I went on. Still love it.

Went up to qld a few years back with family. They all wanted to see the polar bears n stuff, so I just went on the Corkscrew all day. Sat on every seat on the ride. Great day.

Haven't been to Movieworld in a long time. Thinking about heading out when things warm up a little.

So I have heard this superman ride is quite fast. Anybody got any reviews?
Yep, it's fast. I'm not the biggest fan of it. After the take off and the top hat, it is just an average coaster. No loops or anything like that.

I went on it just after it had opened. I thought I was being a real tough guy going "no hands". Ended up with bruised armpits/under arms because the harnesses were still really hard and I kept smashing into them.

Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster is an infinitely better ride IMO, as long as they have they full special effects running. I wont spoil it for you if you haven't been on it though.
