"So is your aim to get to Europe and race like Crumpy?"
"Yeah I've been racing in Europe for the last 3 years"

Awkward.

And just as bad was crump saying he won 3 solo world tittles and 4 team tittles and maher going yeah you put someone in a sidecar... Jason had to say he has always ridden solos... I mean how hard is it for these blokes to look things up

you are expecting maher and gaze to do research? other than footy i doubt they conduct any form of homework. and even then, when footy journos/media persons get it wrong they just laugh it off. and their colleagues do the same. no wonder why we get beaten annually when it comes to VCE/IB scores.

You genuinely make me pee my pants. Such brilliance.

Grant Thomas was good listening this morning about Jake Carlisle.

Agreed. He pretty much told it as it is, like he did throughout his coaching and media career. Said there should be no second chances and if any player is found doing any form of illicit drugs they should be deregistered never to return to the AFL (or words to that effect).

Also, wasn't Steve Salisbury great again last night? I could listen to the dude for hours, has a great radio voice. I only heard the end of his chat with Finey re: Carlisle as I was in the car on the way home from indoor but I liked his perspective a lot. He had a cool outlook on how to get teenagers in Australia vying to play pro ball, too.

Professionals like Jason Bennett and Peter Donegan seem to be always on the fringes of the media - They are wasted talents.
It's how the footy media is these days. If you've played the game before, you get to bypass a course in broadcasting and proper training/education.

No second chances at all? So an 18 year old kid makes one mistake and smokes a spliff whilst overseas for the first time and it's expected that never allowing him to have an AFL career is a good idea? Must be great living in an ivory tower like Grant.

if steve hosted a show and talked footy, he would make it sound good and even do RESEARCH. professional through and through. you are right, voice for radio and is calm. i love it when people from non footy backgrounds (except gaze) talk footy. they aren't hamstrung by mates in the game/media, or by the afl watching over them.

an extreme case there craigy, but point taken.
i for one would love to see zero tolerance on illicit and performance enhancing drugs. this education process stuff etc is laughed at.

tough love is sometimes what's needed. smoke some dope, hey in some countries its legal so under their rule of law its fine. the player needs to learn responsbility. if you wanna do it, dont fkin do it in public and most importantly dont get caught! if you wanna show off on social media, you have yourself of blame.

taking to the en-th degree, if player has a drug problem, let the relevant authorities and carers take over.

Anyone noticed how, at least late evening to nightshift, that the newsreaders can't seem to go a sentence without making an error. It's amplified as well the way a guy called Alfie? tries so hard to be accurate. Poor guy.
Ha ha, yes, he's not the best. He emphasizes the wrong words and syllables, and fluffs a few things. It's a throwback to the SEN work experience newsroom from a couple of years ago.

I had to turn over the 3aw to make sure he was also on there, and he was, which surprises me, because they usually have better standards. Can anyone imagine the 3aw breakfast news guy being that bad?

By the way, "Mr Douche Bank", that crap newsreader who was on SEN a few years ago, seems to have been shipped off to a community station in Brisbane. I hope he's improved. :D

I dunno, I think Grant was more referring to coke and hard drugs rather than something as tame as pot. Even though I don't smoke it I still feel it should sort of be exempt from these discussions
