Agree that Francis is a pretty good replacement but not sure the show will be as good as it was - particuarly in footy season. The chemistry between Ox and Huddo was great to listen to so let's hope they will work well together.

PLSC , you are right , It was like Francis had never left he slotted in so well.
I listened for most of the day and now the problem is,he is that good he will start to show a few of the others up who are not as good as him.
Listening to a few hrs of Boran Doran then to Francis was like going from the band that warms the crowd up and no one gives a toss about until you get to the main crew .
It will take time , but now that SEN has made this change ,slowly they will add more , get rid of some of those who have done nothing much and bring more from outside the station until they get it 100 percent right .
Francis will be right when the footy season starts he knows what he is talking about on afl dont you worry about that .

I know KB got horny when he was nominated to call the Cats and Tigers game on Sunday... pretty sure Dogs and Swans are also being broadcast on the Saturday.

I meant his was down by 1.3 in the ratings points, and his show now rates at 1.8

Geez, our family had a radio ratings diary for this survey...and SEN was filled in for most timeslots.

I hope that it improves to keep SEN viable, but a kick up the a--- to take suggetions from listeners seriously, and to make changes (not just when someone quits) when there is demand for them.

Does anyone know if SEN puts their on air staff on contracts, if so for how long?
And how does Schebbeci/Doran keep their jobs?

Can't speak for Schebbeci but Doran would have to be the worst radio announcer in Melbourne. He is shocking. Yesterday he read out text messages from listeners for close to half an hour at one stage and he does this regularly. Total lack of creativity and rubbish guests like Rita Whatshername and Hartford among others. What makes it even worse for him is thew fact that he is followed on air by one of the best announcers in the country in Francis Leach. When he did afternoons it was brilliant. Doran is a complete hack. SEN is the perfect exmaple of why sports radio 24/7 struggles to work in a small marketplace and with a hack like Doran it only makes this worse.

Geez mate thats a bit harsh - what did he sleep with your wife or somethin?

Doran is too serious IMHO and should stop being the professional journo and be the typical talkback announcer who gives their opinion as much as hosts a show. Have to disagree with you completely on Rippa Rita and Daniel Harford - when they're in to do casual fridays is when the show works best. His other regular guests like Mark Robinson and Rodney Hogg work well. KB just needs to talk more footy and cut down on the golf.

Don't know how the ratings work but wouldn't be shocked if next time Doran and KB rated highest and Morning Glory was bottom of the pile. From memory KB had the highest rating show last time I saw the ratings posted here about 6 months ago.

Have already said on this thread how much I'm enjoying Leach taking over from Huddo but the first day honeymoon was over on the second day when Francis just didn't know his stuff about the AFL rights and broadcast arrangements - he kept saying you'd get footy on the basic foxtel package. This issue has been discussed to death everywhere so how he'd be in the dark is odd. Ox and Leach have instant rapport so its been a smooth transition.

Morning Glory still remains the worst and most frustrating show on the station. If SEN had balls they'd cut it and do something really different. Its banal, ********ing boring, its been ******** for a long time and they keep it on. The most complaints you see on this board from regular listeners is about MG but they never make any changes to it.

yep, MG is compulsory listening for the latest and overnight news. however, it does get silly. i remember last year sometime they came under fire for their childish antics but they said its a morning show and should be light hearted. billy plays the class clown/idiot/kid who's been kept down a year. Its his immaturity that ticks me off.

Flicked SEN on this morning around 6.30 to hear jason richardson. what is his role on the show at that time? funny to hear watson bagging aths in australia

However I must give props to SEN in general (even to the MG team) with their increasing interest and will to learn about soccer.

But why do they need them , if they read this forum the general agreement has been exactly what the ratings show , that the run home is the best SEN show and that Bartlett and Doran are the two worst shows.
Looking at their latest ratings in the paper today KB 1.8 and Doran 1.6.
I am not an expert but that 1.6 that is bloody woeful!
Maybe Doran has some sort of a handshake agreement he cannot be sacked , maybe he knows someone ( jobs for the boys ) because he cannot be still there when he is performing so bad.
If SEN was a footy team then KB and Doran are not getting a kick and cannot be carried anymore.
As for saying they will be the highest in the ratings next time , they have always been the weak links at SEN.
Come on my mother is a school teacher and she could rate 1.6 if i told her what to say !

Bruce Eva is starting to get on my nerves during his "The Back Page" segment. After nearly every story spoken about he will say something like "OK, we will watch that story with interest"

Also Morning Glory still annoying the living chit out of me. Still contrived, NOT FUNNY and the debates they have been having lately are pathetic. It is bloody obvious that their producer has written the scripts and they don't really believe what they are saying. The whole show is like a really bad stand-up routine. Andy Maher is the most annoying MF in the media IMHO.

Gee thanks for your footy club analogy - us normal folk who haven't worked at SEN can't understand what you're trying to say unless you make a really obvious analogy.

If SEN was a footy club, they would've got rid of morning glory years ago since the breakfast slot is the most important and those blokes have never improved. Also they are the ones who get bagged most by fans of SEN. Its not just on these forum, we've got SEN on at work and nothin gets ********canned as much as morning glory. Its just a dumb show.

I'm pretty sure KB's show was the best rating at the station a few months ago and now its rating 1.8 so I'm thinking that not much weight is put in to the accuracy of the ratings. Probably why sports927 refuses to be part of the ratings.

What I don't get is why you continue to listen to the station when you are so pissed about how they treated you?
