Current The Strange Disappearance of Nicola Bulley - Lancashire

I think the police are using Sherlock Holmes as a guide

Its the absence of things that point the police to a scenario

The absence of the dog barking
The presence of the dog
The (so far) absence of comment about yelling and screaming over the zoom meeting
The absence of a slide trail on the bank

Though the absence of any body in the water must be frustrating them

She may not want her body found, so set it up to look like she entered the water at that spot but she could of walked or swam for any distance before going in the water.

The police are being asked to explain their disclosures and while I understand why they did it and how much pressure they've been under from the family and the public, they may have overshared somewhat.

Villagers living near where Nicola Bulley disappeared have condemned TikTok detectives who have been digging up woodland near where the mother-of-two went missing last month.

Conspiracy theories have been rife on social media after Ms Bulley vanished, with vigilantes descending on St Michael’s on Wyre.

Roads closed off around the river. Divers and authorities are there. Rumours of a body found by two walkers but nothing confirmed.

A huge police search is underway and roads have been closed in the case of missing mother-of-two Nicola Bulley following a tip-off from walkers - less than a mile from where she vanished.

Officers in two police cars raced to the scene where the man and a woman pointed to a spot in the River Wyre. One officer is said to have walked down to the bank to take a closer look before reinforcements were called.

By 1pm on Sunday police drones and a helicopter hovered over the outcrop of trees and undergrowth, while police divers took to the banks of the river Wyre.

Soon after, Senior Investigating Officer on the case Rebecca Smith, was spotted arriving at the riverside.

The "expert" in finding bodies underwater with all that equipment needs to go back to the lab. At the very least demote him from expert to amateur.

I believe the explanation is people were trying to cash in and sell stories about the information revealed. Police released it to take the 'exclusive' factor away from the British press, who are grubby vultures at the best of times.

After all the criticism in public interest, it was members of the public who ultimately found her.

I think "members of the public" needs to be read as "social media celebrities convinced they'll solve the case but who have no idea what they're doing and are trying to break into houses", rather than the public at large.

Disappointing that they didn't find the body but sometimes bodies get trapped (e.g. logs) and can float up later (or someone just put the body in the river!)

I understand that, but when he claims with certainty "if she was in there we would have found her" it makes you come off as a bit off an ass. I would have thought an expert would know the currents and where to look.

There is the outside chance as you mention of someone putting her body in a completely different part of the river and the phone and leash being left on the bench as a decoy. Will wait and see.

This article says police are unable to confirm it's Nicola so I'd think she's probably been in the river for some time.

How is the nerve of the self proclaimed expert to suddenly now claim he was just a volunteer and tries throwing the police under the bus (who were right all along mind you) to shield himself for criticism . lol. What a piece of work.

The "a UFO took her" folks in tatters.

They’ve gone nuts over this case, and I’m really curious about the psychology behind it.

And it’s the majority on the Facebook groups that are absolutely convinced there’s some sort of conspiracy to it?

And it’s not like they back down when more information comes to light, they dig in harder.

Why they can’t say oh well now police have revealed x, I’ve changed my opinion. Instead any information that contradicts their theory is evidence of conspiracy.

Worlds gone mad.

Pretty sure this clown was presented through the press as being the head of the dive team saying she wasn't in the river, and most would assume he was a dedicated specialist who knew what he was talking about.

Ive been staying away from the Idaho case this past month, so many idiots out there using the gag order to get clicks on their stupid theories thinking they know more than the police, doing my head in, the blind leading the blind.

Got into one argument with someone over Dylan's "involvement in the murders" ( ) who told me im a sheep and I that dont think critically enough to which I replied "no, I just choose to trust the police who know far more than a noob like you"... to which they exploded at me over.

Its a tough life trying to be a true crime fan.

Poor thing.
Really feel for her children.

And most rivers have very thick roots and vegetation so you can envision a human body, and particularly the legs, being tangled while the current at the base of the river is changing direction.
It probably doesn't help when a human body will surface after 3-5 days.
