Has 12 assists but would be directly responsible for 6-10 goals just by his pure inability to even basically defend. Its all well and nice to downhill ski in a side that enjoys skiing but the reality of the matter is its just a masking agent. Hes a crap RB. IMO I could throw Glen Johnsin into the Barca side and he would have a greater impact

He's not just a RB - how many times do you need to be told? There even are games when we play with just 3 at the back, 2 CB's with Busquets dropping in between them.

His main job is to be in the opponent's half and help create chances. He needs to do this because with an average of 65% or something possession of the ball each game, he's got more attacking responsibilities than defensive ones. His contribution to the team is generally outstanding, he runs up and down like a maniac every single game.

Yeah his game has got flaws. But I don't believe there's a better player than him for us at the moment. And he knew it, that's why he got himself a real nice new contract recently.

Hes a damn good winger. A good RB he is not. To me it seems like Alves gets away without criticism for the stuff people lambast a bloke like Sergio Ramos for. You cant tell me your not worried about Alves everytime you verse Real Madrid.

IMO you should keep him because its the cheaper option but the idea he is your 2nd best player etc is beyond laughable

Yeh the Barca fans love to stick the boot into Ramos at any oppurtunity and yet he is a much more complete player than Alves is.

Well it's a good thing no one takes your opinion seriously then, because you are 100% wrong.

Alves might line up as a RB, but in reality he rarely actually plays like that. He is more of a winger that tracks back alot. Yes, his defensive qualities are not good, but the in an attacking sense he is invaluable, plus his workrate is second to none in our team.

You either need to watch more Barca games (not in digibox mind you), or just not comment on them. Also, please list those 6-10 goals that Alves is responsible for.. thanks.

Personally, the reason I do this is to piss my brother off because he has a man crush on Ramos.. :D

I also think the amount of serious fouls Ramos commits plays a big role in that.

Barca's achievements over the past couple of seasons are phenomenal & their greatness can't be denied. However one thing i find distasteful is their continued whinging behaviour on the pitch, they insist on rushing and crowding the referee & calling for yellow cards etc for the opposition. it happens quite regularly too, and its a shame to see great players like xavi, valdes etc involving themselves at almost every opportunity. would be great if they just left the decisions to ref and focus their energies on playing football (which is what they're damn well good at)

We aren't the only team that does this but yes I agree, FIFA need to get the referees to stamp this out of the game.

Maybe make so only the captain and the infringing/infringed player can approach the referee.

So he cant play the position he plays? That is my point. Ultimately we are both in agreeance here, we just worded it wrong. I already said he would make a fantastic winger but hes not your geniune RW now is he.

He plays like a genuine hardworking RW. Lining up at RB is IMO honestly just a formality. When we are defending he tracks back, when we are in normal zones, he is never in the defense. Usually it's Pique-DM-Puyol with our LB covering as well.

Also interesting to hear Mourinho had instructed to grow the grass about 4 centimetres longer than usual, to slow down our ball circulation. Last season he had Inter's field as small as was allowed by UEFA (nothing wrong with that though, we have ours as big as allowed I think) and remember with Chelsea how he had them throw on extra sand and then spray water before the game to get the field all muddy? He's all class that man. Real deserves him :thumbsu:

Oh Jesus BB, give me a break

Mourinho's done nothing this season but complain about the playing schedule, complain about the refs, complain about other teams' starting XI, insult colleagues, show lack of respect to other clubs...

Yeah it's a tactic and it works, but it's completely classless. Sorry for pointing it out - I guess it was too obvious

The sprayers were pathetic, for sure, but so was Mourinho's behaviour immediately prior to that. That's why they did it. They should've just beaten him up in the carpark after the game.

Dani Alves is a great great player, incredibly important to Barca's structure, creates so much. While he might 'line up' as a right back, he's job is to make marauding runs down the flank while their right forward moves into the middle. Busquets then moves back to cover the space. He also has the ability to score goals and takes a wicked free kick.

That's actually a myth, like Bigfoot or a good Spanish ref.

He does score from about 1 free kick per season, and usually in spectacular fashion. But it's the other 49 attempts that don't help his reputation.

Oh well the fact remains that he is an awesome player and very important to your team. He's still a bit of a twat though.

Hey, that's our tactic! :D
