So I'm bored and am looking at stuff to do and notice a few people on here are interested in getting tatts and may already have them and so that we don't derail other threads we can talk about tattoos here.

I had wanted a tattoo for ages but never ended up getting one until I turned 30 and that has only fuelled me to get more. I have the standard bogan tatt of the southern cross which I'm going to have some text added to it in rememberance of my grandfather who fought in WWII. The next tatt will be incorporating my kids names into something, haven't figured out how to do it yet. I'm partially obsessed with tattooing, some of the artwork these guys do is amazing and to think that the art can good look that good on skin is mind blowing. I am curious however to see how good some of this stuff looks in 10-20 years time.

there is a great site www.inkednation.com where you can see tonnes of work and the place helps you get in contact with artists.

Anyways feel free to chat about your tatts or what you would like. Even if you don't like them post away as it gives me stuff to do when i'm bored.

that
tattoos are disgusting!

but like 9 people in my family have a star on their hand/foot.

come on
small stars are sexy, so are hearts

but it's the medium size ones I think look out of place and the large stuff that is disgusting

i think some tattoos look disgusting and some are just plain inappropriate.

As for stars and their meanings I don't know much, I know many seafaring people get nautical stars tattooed on them

omg i was at my nonnas and i was reading this magazine and there was a girl with tattoos from her neck right down her arms, and all the way down her legs and i was like ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
thats pretty foul.

i dont think i could ever get a tattoo because of my severe trypanophobia condition.

I've got 2. I have a Port tattoo (Japanese symbol for 'Power' and 04 next to it), and I have 3 paw prints on the inside of my wrist (due to my passion/career).

No tattoos on me... but i was cartooned yesterday for $20.

Doesn't it just scrub off? haha :p.

Its actually a Phoenix, but Eagle is fine.

Probably just the angle of the photo I think mate, looks pretty perfect in real life, the photo doesnt really do it justice in my opinion and was taken on the day of the tat.

I've got a few (arms, back, legs and chest) but the only one I regret is the first one I got when I was 17 many many many years ago. It cost $50 (fair bit cheaper a while back) at Bodyline Tattoos Frankston (what was I thinking) and is over my shoulder and left arm.

So far it has cost $1500 to get removed and it's still there in parts. It would have been cheaper to get it covered over but I would have just about have to have gone Tim Commerford (Rage Against The Machine Bassist) style to cover it up. The removal actually hurts, I don't remember any tattoo particularly hurting when I was getting them but by **** the laser that gets rid of them stings.

$100 for every 15 minutes on removals so make sure you REALLY like the one you are about to get.

1500 dollars probably beats trying to shave the skin off with a razor which someone I know attempted once... point is, never get a tattoo saying so-and-so loves so-and-so or some shit like that

I got an AC/DC (lol oldschool bogan) lightning bolt on my left arm, and have been thinking of doing the same thing on my right but in Port colours (something like my avatar)

The actual concept of the tattoo isn't bad it was just poorly done and got worse over time, although I don't think I have ever seen a tattoo improve...

has anyone seen the glow in the dark tattoos?? they look kinda cool, not something i would get but look good on others. guess if i was in jail i'd get one done above my ass crack saying "do not enter"

i've heard glow in the dark ink can be permantely itchy and cause rashes. Expensive too, and some places you need to brink your own ink. Still, i've thought about

I don't get how some people just walk into a studio, and pick a design from a book to get inked on them for the rest of their life.

I would love a tattoo, but I change my mind to much to make my mind up. I like the Phoenix idea TSW, I searched 'rising phoenix' in google and some pretty awesome ideas popped up.

Here are some ideas I have had.
Metallica star around my belly button. Year 10
Cross on the inside of my bicep. Year 12
Family crest. Age 19

Now at age 23 I would lean towards something in the middle of my back but just not sure, my skin isn't very dark so I don't think I could pull it off as well as others.

took me 30 years to get my first tattoo and it is the typical bogan southern cross however i am getting "anzac spirit" written on it and my grandfathers dog tag number written on it as it was he who taught me about the spirit of the diggers. my second tatt i got earlier this year of a maple leaf with my kids names underneath written on my forearm, i have the leaf facing me on my arm so all the tattosits complained it would look upside down when people saw it, i had to remind them that i would look at it most so that i could see it. the leaf was chosen as part of my heritage and also because i'm iinto horticulture and see a leaf as part of a family tree, as time goes on i will add smaller leaves of family members to form a lower sleeve.

i love tattoos that have a meaning behind them better than all that tribal crap and off the shelf stuff, i drew my tattoo with the help of a friend so it is a unique design that hpefully only i will have
