"the team for ALL South Australians"

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Well... how does your club marketing itself as representing the WHOLE of the Western Suburbs of Melbourne sit with you? Surely not EVERYONE in the Western Suburbs is a dogs supporter!

FWIW I am born and bred in Victoria, but I have no issues with the slogan. For me, I just kinda add a bit on the end... "the team for all South Australians, plus a small minority of people from other states who wish to support a professional, classy organisation without fear of state boundaries":thumbsu:

Yeah, I will run with that! :D:thumbsu:

Since when does Western Bulldogs encompass that they represent the Whole of the Western Subs...Have they a slogan which states that ??

Adelaide is the team for ALL South Australians unless they go for Port or Carlton or Geelong or St Kilda etc etc

Thats the reason they dropped Footscray and adopted the "Western Bulldogs" name. The demise of Fitzroy gave them an opportunity to capitalise and move away from the "Foot-is-cray" type stereotypes and represent the whole Western Region.

how is an inclusive statement antagonistic?

it's a slogan meant to indicate everyone's welcome.

Exactly!

I fail to see how saying that all of South Australia is welcome to follow the Crows excludes people from interstate from doing so?

Should we become the team for all australians, or would that antagonise our british fans?

How about "A bloody good team, for bloody smart people!" :D;)

As someone who's lived away from SA since before the Crows came in, I can't get too hung up about what is essentially a marketing slogan.

What does it mean, anyway? Our major sponsor, Toyota markets itself with an "Oh what a feeling" tag. They sell cars, not emotions.

I'm just glad that the moronic "Kick a Vic" banners seem to have disappeared.

I am a born and bred south aussie but believe me i hate the crows with a passion and to a lesser degree port adelaide. I have always supported StKilda and was really turned off the crows in their formative years with the incessant media that they were (and still are) given I understand that living here I have to put up withit but to have it shoved at you ALL the time is way over the top. There are thousands of non crow and port fans living here. I do not believe that they are "the team for all South Australians"

Stiff bickeroonies. Serves you and all the other **** right I would say.

Ah, how is Franko Cotso going these days. :D

The point of it is to be antagonisitc, especially towards Power supporters.
Agree. We can crap on about how 'inclusive' the slogan is meant to be but I'm sure most people don't take it that way and I'm sure a big part of the reason we use it is to rile Port Power. Frankly it is a tactic I'd expect from Port.

They're just pissed because we thought of it first! :p

It's a bit like saying Coopers is the beer for all South Australians - it doesn't mean all South Aussies drink it or you have to be from SA to drink it, its just a catchy line.

Exactly. This is the biggest non issue ever. I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't understand such a simple phrase.

I'm surprised Rucci would take issue with it. I thought he was smarter than that. Don't laugh, I really did.

So what about my wife who was born and raised in Victoria who is a member/supporter of the AFC and her best friend who was born and raised in Victoria and is a member/supporter of the AFC and our other friends that were born in Victoria and are members/supporters of the AFC????

You are honary South Australians

Being a South Australian is a state of mind.

Port supporters don't qualify as you need dignity and class to be a South Australian;)

Look in all seriousness its a marketing tool and that's all. Mr Rucci is being a little silly to suggest the Advertising Stnadards Board should get involved, although this is one peg down from his idea that it breached the Trade Practices Act. Rucci's legal credentials are a bit questionable.

Well if you consider yourself a South Aussie that's what you are. As a member and supporter of our team you don't honestly beleive the Club doen't value you because you live in Victoria and we call ourselves the team for all South Australians?

No not me personally, Im more coming from say my wife who has never lived in SA at all.

No offence, but it's kind of being part of South Australian to have horrendous slogans, isn't it?

SA Great, Kick a Vic, A Brilliant Blend, etc.
Kick a vic was great :p;) I dont think dodgey state slogans are limited to SA somehow, seems to be a countrywide past-time.

It's no less of a ridiculous statement than we're used to from "The Rooch". At least we're annoying him, I think he's mad about the sign on the forum  Im extremely worried about legal action because we've breached the Trade practices act and that the Advertising Standards Board will be on the case. I actually laugh out loud when I read some of the things this guys writes. Although I can honestly say that I dont care what he writes because its all just him taking a shot at the afc. Its not half-decent journalism or anything close to the truth, I know that he sells papers and so he'll keep getting that sort of thing published, but again, its nice to know we've gotten to him :D
Oh yeah, no-one gives a "rats tossbag" about that stupid counter :D really, nobody cares, give it up, its embarrassing.
