I think our plan is draft mids. And then recruit kpps through trade or free agency.
Supposedly that has been the plan for a long time. Has not yielded anything in the latter regard.

I think the club are simply banking on McPharlin and Pavlich playing forever.

Rarely agree with you, but agree with bolded.

I guess the logic picking up Weller was that he was too good to pass up, but we do have a glaring, McPharlin sized hole that will need filling in a year, not to mention Johnno being post-back surgery and having clouds over him longevity wise. It would have made sense to pick up one of Lever, Durdin, or Goddard who were also reasonably well regarded.

Maybe we will load up in the rookie draft?

Love Hase to bits forever for being such a champ for our club, but he doesn't know everything. I think Weller and Blakely were terrific selections - how could either of those be passed when they were still sitting on the table? Maybe we could have gone tall for rounds 3 and 4 but I do like their policy of 'best available', especially in the later rounds. Whether or not Langdon or JDC are any good - time will tell, but I really like the Weller and Blakely selections... REALLY, REALLY like them! :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Same. By our 2nd round all the good kpp players were gone so why reach for one for the sake of it.

Were they recruited for Maurice Meade or a new boy band?

I agree, I'm just sharing what Hase thought :) I agree that the game has shifted and he hardly is one to understand the benefits of pace.

Because less than 5% of the population is KPP height, so outside the first five picks you're probably going to be reaching over a more skilful and bankable mid. Only way you draft a KPP at the correct pick is by finishing bottom four.

If you take the attitude you never reach, you deplete your list of KPPs.

So what you're saying is Freo should of not recruited Weller?

Weller the heartthrob, Blakely the wholesome one (Mum's favourite), Deluca the mediterranean one and Langdon the certified madman (every group needs a wildcard)
