I though they preferred stubbies as they can potentially use it as a weapon.
you're both wrong. a beer isn't a beer unless its served in someone elses shoe

If you're drinking a $100 bottle of wine it's classy though, make that a $4 bottle of wine and the story changes.

This is a myth.

If you're drinking a $100 bottle of wine it's either because you appreciate it and are wealthy enough to justify the outlay, you are a Niles Crane and want everyone to know what vintage you have and how much it cost, or you don't know anything about wine and have come into a bit more money and want to pretend you are classy. Of those 3 categories the majority sit in the latter two.

Money doesn't buy class comes in a few different forms.

I keep base spirits at home for visitors or random boozy nights in. No opening the master collection or single barrel stuff for that. Bundy yellow all the way.

I know people that only use cask wine for parties. Keep a box of goon in case of emergency.

I'll give people people shit and bants if they're drinking VB or XXXX but I won't turn my nose up at them. The worst are those who drink weird shitty craft beers and turn their nose up at anything beneath that.

So basically Silent Alarm

Beer snobbery is OK to a degree. It's less of a social stigma and more of a preference thing. The difference between a cheap carton and a 'craft' one is generally only $10-20. If you go to the pub the difference between the cheapest and most expensive pint is a dollar or two. I'd rather get Little Creatures for $60 than Carlton Dry for $45 and I'm happy to mock people who think Carlton Dry is a good beer. The difference in price between wines is much more dramatic. A 4L box of Coolabah is what, $10? $15? Meanwhile some people won't even touch reds that are $15 a glass.

If someone gave me shit for the beers in my fridge I wouldn't lose any sleep over it whether it's a $25 4 pack of some craft beer or some cans of 'sport. If I offered someone a glass of red and they went full Frasier I'd tell them to **** off and get their own.

Carlton Dry is a good beer, I drink it when I'm having a big one. I can't knock over a dozen or craft beers without serious bloating or general nausea, even if they taste better.

- a rich woman getting shitfaced at 1pm on a Thursday “champagne breakfast” doesn’t look better than the bogan having 4pm knock off beers at the pub, in fact she looks much, much worse imo

- old school rock band tees are worth a mint now (Kim Kardashian paid like $2k for a beat up Metallica shirt)

- what you drink and how much you spend is your business. All the young guys in my office are mad for melbourne bitter at the moment, I’m not a fan and would take a 150 lashes over it any day but cest la vie, drink what you enjoy

Not seen it for years, but when I was a teenager the guys that used to walk around with a pack of smokes between their bicep and white t-shirt and thought it looked tough or cool amused me greatly before I had even heard the term bogan. But as someone that never cared for pretentious snobbery or looking down or up on people, always probably been more amused with the whole talk of it than so called group of people themselves. Still caught a bit of some show of tv called housos the other day and made me laugh at the extremes projected on a tv program but scary in real life how some characters can be really like this. I've probably meet every type of person you can meet from totally rich people that can be lovely people to total snobs or totally down and out people that can be genuinely lovely to others that scum of the earth people that steal , prey and scab of others with no shame at all and have no intention of being any other way than just take what you can and contribute nothing to others.

I appreciate people from all walks of life if they are genuine, caring and do not take themselves too seriously.
Reality is, people come in all shapes and sizes and looks and attitudes. Try to see the good and bad in most people and hope I am not too much of an arseh*le myself.
