Remy going to be suspended for the derby? Huge out with Cabaye also not being there.

Yeah Cabaye will be a massive blow - in his current form, probably would have won it by himself.

There is some talk of us appealing the Remy red as there was minimal contact and the incident was initiated by the Norwich player (Johnson). A few pundits have said it was a silly red by the ref. Hopefully the FA might agree!

Hopefully it is overturned! Love watching Remy play :thumbsu:

Yeah, with his pace and the ball at his feet, always nice to see him in full flight.

Not too fussed if he misses though Jatz - we have Shola Ameobi - the Mackem Slayer!!

Cabaye is officially a PSG player but we have added Luuk De Jong on loan until the end of the season (with the option to buy if we like). 'Substantial' bid put in overnight for Grenier of Lyon who is a fairly well regarded young attacking midfielder. Has a lot of creativity, and is a supposedly a bit of a whizz at set pieces. Sounds like an ideal replacement if we can get him but with less than 48 hours to go, I can see the club being stubborn and refusing to budge if a valuation doesn't meet their own expectations.

The new man - will be number 18 - Krul and Anita should help him settle in quickly.

Surprise surprise, our bid for Grenier has been knocked back.

The logic of selling your best player a couple of days before the window closes really hasn't registered with Ashley and co. Club's know we have money and that we are desperate. Of course they will hold out for more money - as well as it means they have little times themselves to find replacements.

Remy's ban was upheld so we lose him for the derby, Chelsea and Spurs. Gouffran and Cisse both in doubt with Colo out and Cabaye gone - will start to test our depth out now.

De Jong might get thrown straight into it!

HOWAYY!!!!!!Starting to settle and about to take command I'm hoping.O'Shea for an early tub and Ben Arfa for a hat-trick would be luverly.
I've officially stopped talking up Anita;that was dumb-clumsy.

Really sad state of affairs and the buck stops with Ashley. Greedy grub only interested in making money.

Really showed our lack of depth. No creativity without Cabaye in the engine room. Too many long balls. De Jog got in some good places but you can see how rusty he is and lacking in confidence he is as well with his hesitation.

Maybe there is some silver lining - we lost the derby earlier in the season and bounced back to beat Chelsea, Spurs and Man Utd - maybe we will see a repeat of that! As the saying goes, hope springs eternal.

Very hard to watch that performance and not get depressed.Outplayed all over the park and most disappointingly in a home derby.Energy, invention, determination, confidence, commitment all sadly lacking and I agree once again @NUFC Tiger that Cashley is at the bottom of it(although he can't be blamed for Remy's 'softest-send-off-this-century' sentence).Agree also with de Jong and hope it is just ring-rust because his decision making was a bit daft as well.
The absence of the team's two best players in Cabaye and Remy really brings us back to the pack in terms of a quality cutting edge.Selling Cabaye also makes a nonsense of Pardew's chatter about Cashley wanting long-term improvement and success for the club.
What a faarking disgrace!

Cabaye being sold was coming, Especially after he nearly went for 10mil to Arsenal in the summer.

Ah well, we'll see what we do in the summer then player wise. Oh and midtable here we come!

Yeah, very sad state of affairs isn't it? First time we've lost 3 derbies in a row since 1927 I think I read.

Ashley has to be the one to get the blame - he appointed Kinnear.

I read earlier today that Ashley is upset with Pardew about the result - pretty harsh on Pardew (though I do think he should get some of the blame for seemingly not getting the players up and ready for the derby - plus we looked devoid of confidence and ideas) given he doesn't get much say in transfers. Kinnear's job is to bring players in - anyone could have told you at the appointment he would be out of his depth.

If only some Royal Family or Oil barren could come in and buy the club off Ashley! Would it be too much to ask to have an owner who has the best interests of the club at heart rather than just lining their pockets with money :(

Yeah, I'm not upset about Cabaye leaving - we got a good deal for him. The thing that annoys me is we didn't bring any replacements for our best player.

You could see how listless the team was on the weekend - we lacked ideas, composure and quality all over the park. On the bench we had barely anything to change the game in our favour. Marveaux who played his first game since September, De Jong who's had one training session with his new team mates and that was about it!

Something to hang our hats on at least - we are the first team to go a full season without any permanent signings! A record of sorts :D

Chelsea and spurs next - without Remy, where are the goals going to come?

Good news for you lot. Kinnear has resigned.

Apparently was on £15k a week. The grand total of permanent signings made in the 8 months he was director of football = 0.

You're well rid.

Just saw that too Moomba!

I actually had to get up from my desk and walk away just so I could punch the air :D:thumbsu:

I guess that proves there is always reason to live in hope - just need someone to buy out the fat controller and we'll be laughing!

Seriously, I wonder why Kinnear stepped down though? His mate Ashley wouldn't have forced him out and as far as Joe was concerned, he could continue to pick up his easy $15k weekly wage for doing SFA. At least he can now boast that he oversaw the first team in the PL to go a season without buying any players.

Good to see the Newcastle Airport has been receiving many requests from 'concerned' locals wishing Joe a speedy and smooth departure from the city!

It isn't all bad news post derby lads. At least there weren't any Tyneside Police horses punched this time :)

Only 4 arrests after the game I believe and no animals hurt, at least we are improving off the field!
