Is there anything wrong with Janmaat? Not in the squad at all.

Am listening to a radio stream this time... seems to be a lively start

I'm doing the same - not sure about Janmaat, don't think I recall him being injured?

Whatever the case, as soon as Anita moved to RB, we've started playing better...coincidence? :p

1-0 at HT is a good result. We're up to 8th on the live ladder haha. Only 2 points behind the leader. Want to see (or in our case, hear) a goal or two to us in the second hopefully.

1-0 at HT. Sounds like we've been a bit shakey at the back with Sels but otherwise doing alright.

Hope we can hold on for a clean sheet and hopefully the win!

Phew! Sounded a bit tense there but held on.

Great to get a win on the road and keep a clean sheet (though Sels sounds like a heart in mouth kind of keeper haha).

Mitro available for our next match too!

Rafalution is go!

Our man is leading haha. Meanwhile Palace are yet to score.

Saw True Geordie mentioned that as well haha.

I think he or Rafa said he was aiming for 20 goals for the season...at the rate he's going, fair to say he might achieve that and even surpass it! Hopefully he and Mitro can strike up a good partnership.

Can check out the highlights here if anyone is interested - great pass from Diame to split the defenders and Gayle did super well to control and finish. Shame he didn't get a second later in the game though we may have been fortunate to not concede as well.

We have a mid week League Cup game against Cheltenham before the tough Brighton match.

As much as I'd love to see a strong cup run for once -especially with a cup specialist like Rafa at the helm, I hope we play a weakened side and focus on the league as promotion has to be the priority.

That being said, our depth is still pretty strong and we should have enough to see off a team in 22nd in the League 2 (4th division) at home.

I'd give Darlow a run - Sels seems to have been a bit shaky and I think Darlow ended last season well. Would also give Mitro a long run out to get some competitive minutes into him.

Maybe a team of:

-----------Darlow--------------
Gamez--Hanley--Clark--Dummett
--------Shelvey--Colback-------
Aarons-------Perez--------Gouff
-------------Mitro--------------

Others who could be considered - Armstrong, Janmaat (unless he is off?), Sterry, Mbabu, Riviere (maybe he can have a bit of a renaissance under Rafa like Gouff), Ameobi lol.

I'd probably have Diame, Gayle and Ritchie on the bench just in case we need to snag a goal somewhere.

Solid team - I would possibly play Mitro and Armstrong together from the outset. Armstrong has a proven goal scoring record vs teams at that level and could gain some confidence in a game like this. What is the story with Haidara? Is he still injured?

In other news, Sunderland is also in the relegation zone.:$:p:D

I think I read Mitro will start and there has been rumours Armstrong might be sent on loan - especially if another striker comes in.

Would love to see Mitro and Arma play together though!

No idea on Haidara, must be injured? I saw another rehab group regular in De Jong got loaned to PSV. Some talk we may give Krul a new deal and then send him on loan to Ajax as well.

Haha saw that! They lost to Boro as well - maybe with no easy points from us, this will be the season they fall short and go down!

Well we survived - just. 2-0 win this morning but seems to have come at a cost with a few injuries. Aarons may have broken his foot, Mitro got a concussion and Gayle and Perez (who scored both) were bandaged up.

Hopefully Gayle and Mitro are right for the weekend's tough Brighton game but that's terrible luck for Aarons. Might mean we ramp up the winger chase if its a long term injury.

Seems there could be quite a few movements in the final few days of the transfer window. Janmaat is rumoured to be close to a move to Watford (maybe why he hasn't featured much recently) with Spurs player Yedlin being seen in Newcastle - could be a younger, cheaper replacement (reminds me of when we got Janmaat to replace Debuchy lol).

We're also apparently looking at signing a guy called Alan Judge from Brentford. He's overcoming a broken leg but seems to be a pretty handy midfielder at this level. The Chronicle mentioned he is a creative type in the mould of HBA or Cabaye (but obviously not on that level).

Found some highlights!

Perez's first is quite nice. Unselfish play of Gayle to dish off the second to Perez too.

From the look of that highlights package we did a little more than survive.Looked creative going forward.
Great signs that Gayle is the goods and clearly keen to 'partner' whoever is up front with him.
Yedlin signing is confirmed and as you say if Aarons foot injury is as serious as is being suggested it will fuel our search to sign another winger.
It'll be no surprise that we play better football in the Championship than we have since Sir Bob in the EPL!:straining::rolleyes::rolleyes:!:huh::straining::straining:

Janmaat to Watford is done apparently. 7.5m. Would probably have preferred a few extra dollars but it is what it is. Yedlin could be ok for us, can play RB and RW I believe, and is still young.

If Aarons' injury is that bad, we really need another winger ASAP.

Good news is that the Brighton game is live on BeIn on Saturday night (2:30am), hopefully I can stay awake!
