Some of you ol' buggas will recall the massive Whale being traded off to South Melbourne. Tiger insiders always thought it was like selling off the club's soul.

Will Jack Graham going back to Adelaide to accommodate a couple of mercenaries, if it transpires, have some similar effect? Are they about to sell their soul, again? Graham has been lauded as a selfless Richmond man to the bone, much like Mrs Hardwick was the spiritual anchor of the coach until she too was traded in.

Are the Tiger's selling their soul, again?

GWS doesn’t even have a soul to sell.

In the AFL the Tiges are 'a johnny come lately'*
Then there is Mrs Hardwick of post game presser fame.

* for those unfamiliar the Aus vernacular:
a newcomer to or late starter at a particular place or sphere of activity.
"I'm exposed to the public as a Johnny-come-lately to the scene"

GWS have asked for more picks than we can give you. So we asked Jack Graham to make it look like he is considering leaving to make it look like we are trying to get an extra pick. We aren’t, Graham is staying.

I think Graham should stay, I was surprised to hear he may leave. He's extremely selfless and devoted.

I dunno if trading away a fringe mid for a future 3rd will have any impact to be honest. They're replacing him with a couple of absolute superstars
Not too sure about that. I'd wanna get the new lads and keep Graham who drives a fair bit of the culture down at Punt Rd.

Richmond rank bottom four for clearances.

They actually always have been poor in this area - Steve Hocking and the Rules Committee introducing the 6-6-6 rule made it really difficult for Richmond to do, what Richmond like to do. Surrender the clearance and win the defensive 50 ball - being one of the best turnover scores against & rebounding attacking teams - Richmond's strength became a weakness.

We all saw the Demons burst the dam wall open against Footscray in the Grand Final. Centre Clearance goals, complete dominance out of the middle and quick inside 50s. Richmond had the No.1 defence during their premiership run, they have been relinquishing big scores - they simply cannot prepare for quick inside 50s.

Other clubs go in against Richmond with one gameplan in mind - absolutely dominate the clearances, stoppages and give your forwards quick delivery and Richmond are vulnerable.

Now the past few years, Prestia, Nankveris, Cotchin & Martin have had huge stints on the sidelines. Jayden Short, Liam Baker & Shai Bolton have been removed from their prime positions, to fill the gaps in the midfield. Whilst Kaymdn McIntosh & Marlion Pickett have found their place as wingers - the Tigers have literally been DYING for a clearance winner. So much so, that when both Prestia & Cotchin are out - which has happened quite a bit - Richmond have lost, every...single...time.

Back to Jack Graham, the Tigers have been dying for a clearance winner, a 24 year old, contested beast, who can win the clearances, they are bottom four in that stat, in a game that's vastly changed. But Jack Graham hasn't delivered, 38 clearances this year, Shai Bolton got 83, Short 58, Cotchin & Prestia who both missed large stints 95 & 112. Graham 38. Some questions have been asked, 'oh but he's not a pure midfielder, he's a run with midfielder', is he a tagger? Nup, Richmond don't tag, so what exactly is he? He tackles a lot and that's great. Hopper & Taranto tackle a lot too. Hopper played only seven games this season, if we're going by his 2021 season, 145 centre clearances and 88 tackles. Taranto with 103 clearances and 128 tackles.

Tim Taranto's 2019 season is so damn elite, he won the best & fairest and genuinely puts his hand up as one of the best players in the competition. Leon Cameron completely butchered the careers of quite a few of those Giants.

There is so much upside in a 24 year old Tim Taranto, 25 year old Jacob Hopper, who will assume responsibility in our midfield that hasn't been afforded to them by GWS because they're over represented in that area.

If Jack Graham has got to go, then thank you for the 2017 tag of Rory Sloane and those three goals in the Grand Final, always a Richmond man, but for the club to move forward. There's a need that he isn't filling that Taranto & Hopper will meet.

May I also add, he's under contract, with an option for a two year extension, it was his initiative to tour the facilities at Alberton, there was room for him to begin the year as a starting 22 and find a place within the team, the timing of his tour of Port Adelaide and the impending recruitments of the two GWS boys may simply be a player not willing to fight for his spot.

And in 2023, with Richmond, you can't use the lift, gotta take the stairs ;)

The 6-6-6 last for literally 15 seconds. You can start your wings on the back of the square still. Pure delusion. Have you got any statistical data to support Richmond have lost games due to centre clearance goals?

I’m only 52 ffs

My footy life started in 1980

Not 1950

I just know my Australian rules history

Jack Graham rejects Port, soul still intact.
