I can't remember the year, but it was Hawthorn v Port down in tassie, if I recall we were winning all bloddy day in sloppy wet typical tassie like day, we were up by like 15 with 3-4min left on the clock only to piss it away in the last 30 sec, out of the centre Clarence straight down to the fwd line, standing around with our thumb up our asses... That sucked! Threw my pint glass on the ground and walked out

It was 2007. Cost Hawthorn a top four spot, but the silver lining was that the Hawks hosted Adelaide in an Elimination Final that year and Lance Franklin wrote himself into Hawthorn folklore for the first (but not the last) time.

Anything in that 2008-2012 period really. The ones I named stood out more then others. We were just a shell of a club in those days.

But you stick by your club through the good and the bad, as you can't enjoy the sweets if ya walk away during the sours.

There have been so many times where this club has played significantly under what it can do it's impossible to pick just one game.

This thread just drives home how lucky Geelong supporters have been. Sure, we've copped a few cartings, but I can't think of any occasions where we've had our arses absolutely handed to us by a 100-point-plus margin by a team already classified as a bunch of no-hopers.

Fittingly for a thread started a month after it happened, the Milburn-Silvagni match in Rd 22 2001. Geelong kicked 3 goals in the 1st quarter and didn't kick another one for the rest of the match. Once the match was gone they went and sniped any and every Carlton player possible, which at least on the plus side ruined their finals chances.

Never seen an AFL crowd so close to violence as that day though, and a dreadful way to send off Buddha Hocking. The Cats had to wait for a police escort to get out of the ground after the game IIRC.

That Milburn his is still to this date one of the most cowardly things I've seen in a footy field.

If someone did the same thing outside a nightclub they'd be arrested and charged with assault.

St Kilda game last year. St Kilda were bad as well. It's not like they were premiership favourites. The guys just completely gave up.
Didn't even bother trying to keep it below 100 points.

Most embarrassing loss in recent times has to be vs Melbourne in 2012. We had lost 1 or 2 games for the year. 2nd or 3rd on the ladder. Melbourne were last without a win and hopeless. Lose 52-58.

Winning this year will make up for that loss.
You wish. A lot of supporters are hoping for an execution after the Rd2 2013 hiding we copped.

Here's one for you Bombers fans feeling glum at the moment.

The 1984 Preliminary Final arse mangling you handed us was an epic beat down. The Bombers were white hot and made a supposed top 4 side look like a bunch of witches hats. I was a 9 year old nipper attending my first final and I was bawling by half time as Essendon piled on goal after goal. They didn't bloody miss. In hindsight we never had a chance against one of the all time great sides but we played utter tripe which prevented the Pies even adding some respectability to the score board.

Our loss in 2014 against Gold Coast was bad. Little Gazza was kept quiet (unlike when they rolled us in 2013) and then did his shoulder shortly after half time and we still lost. We were beyond pathetic that game and when Clinton Young dropped a simple chest mark straight in front that would have given us the win I was almost glad because in no way shape or form did we deserve to win that game given the shiteness of our display. In fact Young's dropped mark put a fitting exclamation mark on our ineptness that evening.

He finished his career as a respected football player, but that act and the subsequent clapping to the incensed crowd as he jogged off the ground was as scumbag an act as you'll see.

I remember watching Carlton belt the bejesus out of Hawthorn in 1995. Wasn't fun. Oh well, recent times have certainly made up for that!

Ahh yes. That was a good one. We are playing in round 2 as well so payback would be sweet for you.

I actually look forward to that game. Don't take us lightly Melbourne ;)

Collingwood's 2003 GF performance against Brisbane was total dogshit. You could tell in the first five minutes we were going to lose.
