Not that long ago (2004) the ratio was 12-38, though. Now it's 19-31. So they've come a decent distance.

There are four others where it's a serious possibility in the near future- Oregon, Washington (state), Colorado and Pennsylvania.

Some states having the death penalty doesn't seem to really bother me. For some reason the death penalty being an option in Pennsylvania or Oregon feels a bit more reassuring than say Texas or the Carolinas.

Some only have it in theory. Kansas has it on its statues but hasn't executed anyone since 1965. Pennsylvania has 190 odd people on death row but hasn't killed anyone in 16 years, and all three that they have killed since 1977 were voluntary- appeal rights were waived.

There's every benefit in keeping guys like Bayley et al alive, by not executing them we go some way to proving that as a society we are better than them. It would ring hollow that being so appalled by a crime of their nature we then go, and commit a terrible act of violence on them. We've moved on from Old Testament justice.

My 2yo son is over the 98th percentile for height for his age. He's about the average of a 3-4 year old. Absolute monster. His twin sister is slightly below average for a girl and significantly shorter. Most people tend to think there's 1-2 years between them.

Ya never know how he'll turn out. I stopped growing when I was 13 (182cm), so I thought I was gunna be a giant, but nada. Ah well, it sure was fun playing under-14 footy and cricket.

One of my dogs spots is on an angle so when he goes, it drips down the side of the pavement.

Have to quickly drag him past it everytime.

Just booked in for my first AirBNB experience in Dublin. 50 bucks a night. A bit more than I was willing to pay but the only hostel that was less than 45 bucks a night looked like a mega dump.

If you have two people travelling AirBNB looks the way to go for me.

My dog has about 100 whizzing spots on our walking route, and it's only a couple of km. I swear he spends the whole day secretly drinking and saves it all up so he can stop every 5m and let some out.

I'll probably have a spare room in a couple of months here in Perth. Might advertise it over summer. Unlike 99% of Perth I'm close to PT, and I have room for parking, luggage etc. I have stuff like mountain bike, body board, beach towels, sports equipment etc. that just sits there idle most of the time and most travelers wouldn't have with them. Just did a quick search and there are places near me renting rooms for $50 a night. Hmmm, investigation required...

Definitely seems like something that is worthwhile over summer... Perth winter might be alright too - I imagine your tourism season isn't as effected by weather as Melbourne and Sydney where hostels and hotels can get pretty empty compared to the summer.

I don't really think of Perth as a tourist destination because I grew up here. And it's dull as ****.

Plenty of people come here so I guess they have to stay somewhere! $50 a night sure as hell won't get you a hotel room in the city, even a shit one. Had a look on Hostelworld.com and a private room at a hostel is about $70.

Note to self: make free money and meet hot Swedish backpackers.
