The cost of a cup of coffee isn't a whole lot more than a cup of tea. Really all you are paying for is the cafe to have a coffee machine and for some floggo with a top knot to spend a minute or so frothing milk.

That's the key thing. You can't make coffee like that at home and even if you can it's a lot more effort than a tea bag in a cup of hot water.

I don't think I've ever got a tea bag in a cup of water in a cafe. It's the whole teapot, strainer, tea leaves etc. No it's not the same effort as goes into making a decent coffee (few and far between) but it's still a little different than the good old Lipton tea bag we have at home

Ok, tea leaves in a pot then. I can also make a pot of tea at home very easily and quickly but could not make a cafe standard coffee because it requires specialised equipment, some expertise and time I don't have. I think you definitely get much better value for money from a cappuccino than a cup of tea. Having said that I only have a cafe coffee about once a month, mostly subsist on tea made at home.

People always whinge at instant coffee, but it's because they put hot water in it, of course is going to be terrible. If you get a decent instant coffee like Robert Timms, use milk and heat it in the microwave, it's tops.
or at the very least put the milk in before the hot water like I do

the flip. lol
if you put the milk in before the water then you aren't just pouring boiling water straight onto the coffee which burns it. it's a lazy middle ground providing you don't drink your coffee black

You can get a manual espresso machine for a few hundred, an auto one maybe $5-600.

Grind some beans, tamp it, pour the espresso, froth some milk, mix it together - voila, coffee. Doesn't take long.

The problem is that people are either lazy and don't want to do that, or like cooking don't learn the subtleties so **** it up. It's difficult to **** up a cup/pot of tea.

I don't have one but those Nespresso pod machines are popular AF and anyone can use one of those.

perthblue is right, though. So many people drown their coffee in milk and sugar so whether you're using ethically sourced single origin rainforest blend orang utan approved beans or Nescafe Mild Roast it doesn't make much difference.

Those stupid Facebook status updates on mobile that are now words in coloured boxes. Shits me to no end.
Adding onto that, people on Facebook who spam unfunny status updates every 10 mins, and get like 2 or 3 reacts, and with those new status update layouts, it's even more annoying.

Those Nespresso pod machines while a great concept make shit coffee

like Gough said, it's basically instant coffee for wannabe poshos.
but it's convenient to make and I like the taste enough.

They're drinkable but you're kidding if you think they're anything close to the quality of a barista-made.

I don't anyone thinks they are

*i am not a Nespresso shill
