I think now nothing chits me more than people who disregard the Internet as a viable source of info. There are so many sources online you can cross reference as well as tons of anecdotal info. There are paper publications and online publications these days. Why is paper more reliable if the same journals / studies / publications are digital. It's condescending and naive to dismiss the Internet as an information source
but you make a valid point. Before we hit the libraries like nobodys business and books were the beacon of knowledge. now we has the internets, and yet there is skepticism about what's valid or not. maybe because anyone can publish anything. duno
I miss libraries.
Books containing bullshit or lacking appropriate citation have always existed too. (Plenty of Pete Evans books at my local library) Part of a librarian's role is to curate a collection of materials that they offer - they are especially skilled in understanding information provenance and hence filtering out some of the shit.
Online it is largely up to us to do this filtering, although a good library can help you make best use of online resources too.
Seeing all these shit reality tv show ads on Channel 7 getting flogged on every ad break Like the partner switch one.

I can tolerate The Voice ones although they seem to flog them a lot. But yeah, would put Masterchef commercials in the same categoryThey aren't the only ones guilty of that, Ch9 are currently flogging The Voice promos and Ch10 are flogging Masterchef promos, it gets worse every year.
great post. i liked your use of "curate".
