Its better in the country. It's like that over here too. Can't take the dog for a quick walk without saying hi to 3 or 4 people. Everybody wishes each other a nice day etc.

Yeah I was going to say that- its like a city v country thing too..

Italians are pricks. No racist.

Greeks I found are very friendly.

Agree. We went on a cruise last year in Europe and approx 800/2000 pax were Italians. Their social graces (cutting in lines; the towel on the pool chair thing; heckling the comedian for not doing his show in Italian.... I could go on) was pretty questionable.

I know it's not always fair to generalise, but shit they were shocking.

Other Europeans - and I'll even include the French in this comment - lovely folks.

And as for the Irish...... you can't find a i nicer bunch of people on the planet.

Reconciliation, genuine equality and a world unified behind our shared humanity.

And to see the majesty of Jupiter and Saturn with my own eyes on a journey that's no more difficult or dangerous then a trip to America.

Yeah French aren't that bad. Spanish were okay. Irish- I was a little disappointed tbh I thought they could have been a bit friendlier. :D

Yeah the Irish aren't all smiles and "top of the day to you" friendly little leprechauns like you expect them to be, some of them can be quite rude and unfriendly. We went out to a pub in Dublin one night and some of the local Irish guys there looked like they wanted to kill us because we were doing better at chatting up the girls with our Aussie accents and a mate of mine got mugged at knifepoint in Galway by a group of Irish thugs.

I found Italians and Spanish to be pretty rude and unfriendly too, the service in Spain in shops and bars is appalling, they just ignore you most of the time.

The French and Germans on the other hand were some of the nicest and friendliest people I met in Europe which is the opposite to their reputations.

The best Italian person we had contact with was our Gondola tour guide (and not all of them were good either, going by stories from the rest of the tour group)- he was a legend, told us plenty of stories including the tally of shame the gondola guys have- to mark down ones who fall in. :D

But yeah during Italy I was sick as a dog the whole time. In Venice I just wanted somewhere to curl up in a ball and die, but there is no public seating, nothing. And all this in 35 degree weather. I dunno how I survived that week, i was so sick.

Venice is a weird place, we spent most of the time getting lost in all the alleyways there, it's like a bloody maze, don't know how anyone could live there.

I wasn't a fan of any of the other Italian cities I went to either, Rome and Florence are OK if you like old Roman ruins or Cathedrals but they are crowded and expensive while Naples is just a shithole with nothing to do or see. The only place I liked in Italy was the Amalfi Coast.

The food in Italy isn't that great either, I've eaten much better pizza and pasta dishes here, mind you I wasn't eating in top class restaurants there.

Yup I agree 100% with you re. the food. Had some great food in Paris, food was average in Italy. Better Italian food here imo.

I basically missed Florence, I was just too sick to do anything. Rome about the same, did the night walking tour then collapsed at the camp ground we were staying at lol. Being on a bus didnt help matters either. By the time I got to Greece tho, I was feeling a lot better.

You might have stayed at the same campground we stayed at in Rome, it was on the outskirts of town and after getting off at the nearest train station you had to walk for ages down some road past these fields to get to the campground. Not the sort of thing you wanted to do late at night alone which I did one night. There were no lights or houses/shops on this road so you were just walking along in the dark, I was shitting myself that I was going to get mugged or murdered.

Best thing about Rome was Hawkins kick after the siren v Hawks. :thumbsu: That's where I was when that happened.

Yeah was on a Contiki, they didnt have very central locations. Accommodation was okay tho, not like we were camping, we were in cabins.
