AFL Club
Richmond
Other Teams
Brothers of Destruction
NORTH MELBOURNE
* Brad Scott says they will do very little at trade time, content to keep pumping games into their kids.
* David Hale is contracted but should go. He will never flourish playing only as a key forward, and there are enough clubs around who would like a handy ruck backup like Hale.
* Why not arrange a trade with the Gold Coast for a second or third-round pick?
MELBOURNE
* Very similar to North Melbourne - feel getting experienced players in would only stifle the development of the kids.
* Will keep Nate Jones, and might lose Cam Bruce to the Gold Coast.
* The likes of Gawn, Spencer, Tapscott, Blease, Strauss, McKenzie and co just need more game time.
* Michael Newton is a slim chance to hang on as a rookie but no decision will be made until later on.
RICHMOND
* Up and about right now, doing all in its power to improve its list.
* Believed to have an in-principle agreement with Essendon swapping Bachar Houli for a second or third-round pick. But Houli is far from ferocious, which is what Dimma Hardwick demands from his players. Where does he play in a midfield that should get more game time from Andrew Collins and the returning Nate Foley?
* Richard Tambling seems to be ready to go and the club is interested in getting Brisbane's Justin Sherman.
* Be interesting to see if one of their raft of key defenders like Will Thursfield goes if the club can get the right price.

Why does this always happen? Adam Thomspon, Jordon McMahon, Clinton King, Tom Hislop, Kent Kingsley, Paul Hudson & Justin Blumfield.

Just a few examples of our 'awesome' trade deals.

This year is no different. While clubs like North Melbourne & Melbourne keep pumping games into their lists and continue to draft, Richmond once again contemplate giving away draft picks for ****ing Sherman & Houli.

Who is more likely to win a premiership? The general footy public would say Melbourne & North, and I would too. We don't need to trade, I don't want us to trade. Let's just trade the players we'll delist, get anything (even a can of coke) in return and just keep drafting kids and developing our own BLOOD.

What pisses me off the most is Richard Tambling. He was quite good at the end of 2009, he has potential to be in our best 22 and why are we thinking of trading him? We won't get anything close to what he is worth in return and he'll end up embarressing us by becoming a good player. KEEP HIM.

This shit always backfires on us, and it will again. NO SHORTCUTS.

(The RFC know BigFooty exists, hopefully Brendon Gale, Craig Cameron, Damien Hardwick & Gary March are reading this, NO SHORTCUTS)

Developed Lion = A Richmond Draft Pick = SHORTCUT

Spud Bomber = Draft Pick = SHORTCUT

NO SHORTCUTS

very simplistic view

we played more kids than either of those sides this year
we have more kids on our list than either of those sides next year
and we will continue to blood new kids this year

Houli will come fairly cheap
Sherman at the minute is just talk and we wont be selling the farm to get him!

Plus we are apparently looking to trade players out for Picks aswell

Wouldnt be concerned at all Yet

I dont see what players we picked up 15 years ago have got to do with us looking at 23 yos on the outer at their current clubs, if we can get players cheap have a look ! we wont be selling the farm to get established players like sherman and houli

How about we judge the current coaching staff and Administration on their actions not those done 15 years ago

So far the Hardwick Era has

Traded Out - Jay Schulz Andrew Raines

Traded In - Ben Nason Matty Dea Mitch Farmer

Big Winners so Far in my book

How about Sydney's trading history? It's a matter of good trades and bad trades.

I'll spew if we pay anything to get Sherman but Houli for peanuts I am happy with. He has all the tools to make it and should have been playing all year. If we trade Tambling for a second round pick or some dud, however I will off myself.

Agree. Good post besides the Tambling bit who I have no calms with being traded but only for an okay pick (anything below 30 would be fine). Players like Houli and Sherman though would be huge mistakes though.

I thought Hardwick said we would take no shortcuts? Hit the draft, we only just started to draft well. Trade away unwanted players for picks ala Raines and Schulz, only trade for players if it's a very good deal and the right player. Why go topping up with more senior experienced players when we're a fair way off it? North and Melbourne are more advanced than us and have the right attitude.

OP is deluded.

What are you basing all this on? Rumor and innuendo? You're a joke.

Have faith in the direction this club has taken over the past 12 months FFS. It would be incredibly moronic to not explore our options through trade week, along with the draft its the only way to improve your list.

And another thing, what's the quick fix?? The players we are targeting haven't peaked and ARE NOT even half way through their careers. You all have NO IDEA as to what we will be giving up for these guys, so just get behind Dimma and the club for once and see what happens FFS. Thank god we have the right men in charge and not the armchair critics of BigFooty.

How many trades have we made this year? None.

Trade week is not until October.

All we have is hot air from a few papers and you're all getting upset. Just wait and see what happens come trade week, none of these rumors may eventuate.

Don't get me wrong, trading player for player, to give a few blokes a fresh start is a good thing to do.

Polo for Houli is good. I don't mind this, because we are exchanging two players with potential, that need a fresh start.

However, trading experienced players for our draft picks is pathetic.

To the poster who called me deluded, keep this in mind. Rumor and Inneundo is not far off in the footy world.

Richmond ARE in talks with Houli. Richmond & Essendon ARE coming up with a way to trade him to us, that's NOT a rumor. Sherman IS leaving Brisbane, Richmond ARE in talks with him, thats NOT a rumor.

I'm glad that many of you Richmond supporters are united in this. We've seen these shortcuts before, even when we got a good player (Brown & Johnson) things never worked out for us because we never won a premiership (didn't even make finals). So why are we so active in trade talk and why are we seemingly going down this same path again?

My BIGGEST relief will be whene draft another 5-6 young kids, swap a few players that need a fresh start, and for our club not to sacrifice something for a senior player.

NO SHORTCUTS!!

What this guy said. :thumbsu:

Hardwick WILL stick to the plan, and I for one am backing him in. If he thinks Sherman and Houli will add something to the side, then I'm all for getting them into the side. Our recruitment staff along with Dimma will know what these guys are worth in a trade, not your average BF poster.

We should only trade for players who will be in out top-10 players.

Trading for players like Houli & Sherman, who could well spend a fair bit of time at Coburg is simply poor list management.

You think Hardwick will trade for players to play for Coburg???

D2T I was once like you. Someone who had full faith in our coaching staff.

History has shown that we've had some massive **** up's with recruiting.

So why should I have 'faith' in anyone?

Dimma will earn my faith when he makes good decisions, last years draft was fantastic, he earned my respect. To earn my faith, so I can just sit back and say "Don't worry, Dimma has got this under control", he has got to make decisions that are logical and pay off.

1. Houli for a second round pick, is absolutely laughable.

2. Houli for any pick is laughable.

3. Houli for Polo is logical.

1. Yes, 110% agree.

2. Incorrect, would certainly take him in the PSD.

3. Would say that's hopeful, not logical

The thing is, is that journalists get their basic information from their sources, such as Tiger interest in Houli.

However, they then 'predict' what Richmond will have to part with, I highly, highly, highly, highly doubt that this 'source' would know what Richmond are offering, that is, if an offer has even been formally made yet.

I would guess that the only way we would trade out Tambling for such a small return would be if he is f*^#ed. His operation sounded fairly full on, trying to correct a problem that is literally in his bones. If he can't run he isn't AFL. If he can run he has A grade potential - simple. Whether he will be A grade if he is OK is another matter. But you just don't do trades like that unless you are confident he is gone. Although given Brisbane's recent trading they would take on a guy who can't walk but played half a good season once.

I want trade week over! So then we know where we stand. Anyway it isn't Dimma who makes these decisions, it's CC with FJ at his elbow.

I'm sure Dimma would have a very big say in who he coaches though. I'm sure CC and FJ would have reccomendations for him, but I reckon ultimately it would be up to Hardwick to say, "Yep, go out and chase these guys" or "No, I do not want this player at our club".

Tambling + 2nd Rounder (Richmond)
for
Houli + 1st Rounder (Essendon)

Looks good to me! :D:thumbsu:

I half agree ...I'm not averse to going for Mundy...and Dowler on the cheap is not too bad...but Christ......Sherman & Houli...what the **** are we doing? And trading picks for them even in a compromised draft or even Tambling for Houli is just ludicrous....it's ****ing Wallarse & Frawdster all over again.........one step forward...****ing ten steps back...:thumbsd:

Would you be so kind to link me to the article where it says that we have traded a pick for Houli and/or Sherman?

Sorry, I meant if we traded picks to get them as some have suggested....even if we swapped some hack like Polo, it's a waste of time and effort...a sideways move at best...neither will add anything to our list's overall quality or depth and could quite possibly subtract from it...
