Thoughts for CHF?

Good question. Ifeel Playfair needs another chance, but that would make forward line top heavy if Mccarthy stays.Maybe swap Milburn &Mackie as leading CHF.

I would be tempted for Otto to play there the full game. He has shown this year, especially the last few weeks that he is getting the fitness required to run out a full game and is actually wanting the ball. I think that Blake should be brought into the team (maybe), King has been dynamite the last few weeks as his body is getting back in good order and will only be stronger has the year progresses (bar injuries of course!) He and Blake could ruck in tandem with with Otto and Macarthy down forward and crumbers of the likes of junior, Chappy and Stoke...GOLD!

Yes, yes - I do hate pants! (Great login name)

and I agree with your thoughts, people will say we'll be to top heavy, the bulldogs will outrun us etc, but screw that lets beat them with our talls, put the pressure of this game mostly on the shoulders on King, Otto, Blake, and McCarthy and get it on.

Otto @ CHF, MC @ FF, When Blake's rucking, hell throw Kingy in the goal square aswell, bring back SJ, and together with Stokes and one of GAJ or Chappy peking at their feet, surely we are a major chance!

Good stuff oscarlett!
We have a couple of the most dangerous crumbers in the comp in ablett and chapman and one the sweetest kicks in the comp (thats Otto and NOT Macarthy) and lot of speed down there as well. Lets use them and put the pressure on the doggies down that end. I like the idea of King having a rest in the goal square as well, which he did a very good job at a few years ago when he was at his best!

Bring the Carrott (kingsley) back into the team!!! :)
And then we can carry him off for his last game ever at Geelong :thumbsu:

PLEASE NO Cocka-head..

Did you see how witty and smart i was there to use your name with abuse?

Given that the dogs have few big forwards . Is it possible that one of Harley, Scarlett or Egan play at CHF? I can't understand why this has never been tried before.

Probably because our defence would have a huge hole in it if any of those guys you named were to take on the CHF position. We neeeeeeeeed Scarlo in our backline for sure, thats what his best at and thats where he shoud stay (ESPECIALLY with Moondog out).

Scarlo was the difference last time between winning and losing. I.e. He was suspened, we lost by 1 friggin point.

Dana raises a very interesting point, however i think Tommy will take Brad Johnson (seen him beat him on a number of occassions), Scarlett to C.Grant, let Dasher room forward. Dasher has proven in the past he is very valuable in front of goals and he is currently un outstanding form.

It might be best to rotate the position through players such as Milburn, Egan, Harley, Mackie, McCarthy, etc.

I say we rush every tall forward we have on our list in for this game against the dogs. During the last few weeks our midfield has improved and I reckon they could keep up with the dogs - especially with their injuries through tmidfield, but I think we can catch them out with height. Don't want to be left looking like slow uncos though as we have in the past against pacy teams when we have tried this tactic.

Like to see Mackie have a crack at it, got a bit of height and also mobility, and replace Mooney with either Riccardi or Kelly.

It would seem pointless to bring in the likes of Playfair as a means of exploiting the dogs lack of height, while he may be tall, he's not a particulary strong mark, especially under pressure, and could prove a liability when the dogs are on the rebound.

Same thing with King, always shake my head when he goes forward and the tv commentators say he's going to "stretch" the opposition defence, when most of the marks he gets down there are uncontested on the lead, and you don't have to be 200 cms to do that, for a bloke his height, he would be one of the worst marks in a contested situation I can think of.

He took a decent pack mark in the goalsquare at the weekend, Reg Hickey Stand end. I was too far away to see if it was contested. Either way, good grab.

It would be sending a very bad message to the rest of the team if Mackie wasn't dropped for this game. He had a shocker on the weekend. Over ran the ball on 2 occassions and turned it over several times as well.

I would be very worried if we had to rely on him at CHF. H would be a better option then Mackie

The Cats' coach said Mooney's omission from the side would give struggling forward Henry Playfair a chance to stake his claim as a permanent attacking option after spending considerable time in the reserves this season.

"What it does is it gives an opportunity to Henry Playfair, who's been in very good form and has been waiting his chance," Thompson said.

"We've been waiting for him to play the sort of footy he has in the reserves for awhile and earlier in the season we put him in, straight in, and backed him to play basically, and he wasn't able to achieve that.

"So he's gone back to the reserves and played well and deserves his chance. I'm sure Henry will come out and mark the ball in his arc, he won't be probably as effective as Cam Mooney but he'll still be pretty good."

That's why there has to be a balance between the two.

Don't led them dictate us, but don't go overboard and field a team that intends to stretch the Dogs to the extent where, as you've mentioned, we're too tall (and where the Dogs, hence, can capitalize upon with their speed).

Logic might suggest replacing Mooney with another tall, but perhaps we're better off simply rotating/re-arranging the group of talls we have right now.

I somehow think Bomber has been sparking some serious doobies...

Supporters and coaches have different expectations of what H needed to do at VFL to get back into the side.

The coaches would have had a list of things that he had to accomplish. For example, consistently providing a contest, tackling, etc. Sounds like he has accomplished what they've asked of him.

Supporters wanted him to go back and kick 8 goals. He's not that type of player and never will be.
