Thoughts on Jim Courier as a commentator?

When, in reality, almost none of them has probably ever heard of him.

Um, I doubt that very much, considering with Mark Woodforde, he has won 61 ATP doubles tournaments (including 11 Grand Slams), thus making them the most successful men's tennis doubles team in history. He won a further five Grand Slams with Jonas Björkman. Ended his career with 83 doubles tittles...

But yeah, he is a lousy commentator.

He's pretty annoying but he knows his stuff. I find his comments to be some of the most regularly insightful.

Courier is by far the best of the 7 commentary team.

Love the way he says "Joke-a-vich".

Rasheed is also good but the rest are subpar. Especially JA.

I enjoy his post-match interviews the most. As for his comments during the match, I think Ch 7 needs to bring in someone new for some matches. I can predict what Courier has to say before he even says it these days.

During the roddick vs gonzalez match, JA repeatedly stated that roddick's epic match against el aynaoui went to 19-17 in the 5th set... I mean, come on... how you can recite a record-breaking 5th set so incorrectly yet so adamantly is very disappointing for a true tennis fan.

I went to bed at the end of the fourth, but from what I heard I wouldn't agree with that. In the third and fourth he clearly stated Gonzalez was playing the superior tennis and Roddick would have to change something if he was to win.

To be fair it was nowhere near the 'Team Australia' we get when ANY Australian player is playing.

I could tell Courie was biased but I had no problem with it because it wasn't ovelry bad and he was still acknowledging how good Gonzalez was playing.

It's always a satisfying moment when the last Australian gets eliminated at the Aus Open in the sense that it means we don't get any more coverage of any of them (and have to forego absolutely everything else in the meantime) on 7. It has become that bad.

Woodbridge is flipping awful!

Not only does he look like he's 13 and have a whiny voice that makes it sound like his balls still haven't dropped yet, but he rarely states anything other than the bleeding obvious.

It's also quite cringeworthy when he tries to interview players pre and post match and does his best to buddy up to them as though they're all longtime mates from his days on the tour. When, in reality, almost none of them has probably ever heard of him.

Like just about every other commentator on 7, it's also quite clear who he's supporting in every match even though I'm sure he tries his best (hopeless as it is) to disguise it.

Brilliant post. Very accurate and very humorous.

I think he's refreshing, always has something insightful to say and is a hell of a lot better than the other commentators bar Courier.

I don't mind his style during matches, i don't rate him as highly as others do when it comes to post match chit chat with the players (McEnroe is king at that in my opinion).

Ch 7 needs more Henri Leconte!!!!!

The only thing I don't like about him is saying "Rafa" all the time. Call him Nadal, or Rafael, this nickname he has given him is annoying.
