Time for a new coach?

Speaking to a guy down at AAMI Stadium today (I work there, hes a Power fan too). He believes that since their has been no major changes at Port Adelaide that everyone has gotten too confertable in their positions because they know that they are not going anywhere anytime soon. Im not talking about the Players im talking about the CEO, President and Coach.

Cunningham used to hold Williams at Bay because he had done so much for the club and loved it, John James comes from a cycling background and couldnt care less about Port on the field, just off the field. Bolton rarley gets a mention anymore.

Chocco was a good coach but has been outcoached on so many occasions and struggles to react in game time hence he does not have a plan B, something a U8s coach has!! Collingwood can have him because I believe hes past his used by day at Port Adelaide.

I think its dissapointing to be talking about our coach 8 football weeks out from making a grand final we should never have got near.


I think its more relevant to be discussing why we are losing so badly in the midfield given some of the players we have at our disposal to throw in their.

Have a look at the age of the majority of the side at the moment.........we will be a little inconsistent at times which whilst frustrating will happen and don't forget the side that played really good against us on Saturday is un-defeated.

As others have said, it's not like Mark can go down into the middle and win the ball for us. We have to remember that other than Kane, Shaun and to a lesser extent Dom, the guys in our midfield are still pretty young. It's fair to say that if we had more experienced guys in the guts, we would have won. They may not have won the clearance, but they would have made damn sure the ball didn't get out as quickly as it did.

It's all easy to call for the coach's head but then, who would have as much passion for PAFC than chocco?
Then we have to get used to the new coach's game plans this can take a while to iron out the old habits from the previous methods we've been taught.
At the moment i dont think there is a better option than chocco for us.

It is also his biggest asset. There is a fine line with persevering enough to give a player confidence, time to adjust to new gameplans etc and giving too much time.
Atm we are in a transition period and things will not settle for a while so there will be a few ups and downs.

We have for the second time this year pushed and just lost to the premeirship favourites who are several years more advanced in development than us. Mark is the best coach in the land bar none (well lethal has a handy record, but you get my drift)

Craigy has gotten the Crows into the finals every year when critics expected them to keep slipping, they were touted as bottom 4 material this year and are sitting 4th at the moment, also happened in 2005.

How can worsfold not be in Choccos league? since he started coaching them they have not missed the finals (this year will probably be the first), and hes played in 2 grand finals just like Mark so I think they are in the same boat.

When was the last time Sydney did not make the finals 2002?2001?, 2 Grand Finals, great record and a coach that can think on game day. How many times has Chocco been out coached by Roos, the only guy that does it better is Craigy

Mark Thompson was unlucky to not be in a Grand Final in 2004 and 2005, yes in 2006 they had a down year but it doesnt stop the fact that geelong won the premiership last year and he has recruited alot of those big names and made them the players they are today.
