My worst dodgy relationship/dating story (before Tinder) was through meeting a chick on MSN chat.
I was 19 and we lived in the same town. I was keen and we were going great guns for 5 months. Clubbing and going to the movies and hanging out. I was super keen to take the next step (go past first base which was kissinh) but she wanted to wait as it would be her first time.
I found out from my younger brother that she has been getting it on with my best mate who lived 3 doors down from my house when I was working.
Needless to say we broke it off quickly.

2 days before happy as can be, kissed me good bye, paid for lunch, was excited happy to have me stay over at hers 2 days later out of my life
And we were texting all the day in-between trying to work out how she can watch my graduation remotely

I had a good one recently. Matched with a girl. Got on really well. Arranged a coffee date. She didn’t turn up. Turned out I got the old gastro excuse. Gave her there benefit of the doubt. After another week or so of messaging it was clear she wasn’t interested so deleted her and moved on. I didn’t hear from her for 3 or 4 days We were texting on phone numbers anyway.
A few days after that. Match with another girl. Going well. I catch this girl accidentally putting in a friend request on Facebook I get enough time to see that we had a mutual friend who was the said girl from earlier.
Not 5 minutes after this all happened I get a text from the previous girl asking me how I am going.
Now I’m onto all this from the start. To coincidental. So I’ve got 2 girls who think I don’t know playing me. So I bag the one who stood me up to the other one. Then I ask her if she friend requested me. She admitted it. Ah deleted the request before I accepted. Then I ask if we have mutual friends. She said no.
Meanwhile the original girl is trying to bag me because I said I was still on hinge. I said to her she wasn’t interested so I moved on. As I’m allowed to.
Then finally I call them out on it. The new one deletes the match.
The original one calls me a player.
Was pretty funny anyway.

First girl was trying to make contact when the only reason she did was because she knew I was chatting to her friend. Then tried to accuse me of being a player.
They played me against each other.
Is that playing?

More likely the second one asked her mate about you when she Facebook stalked you and realised you had a mutual friend. The first girl decided that if someone else wanted you then maybe she does too, like a child when someone else plays with their toy.
I don't think it was really anything as deliberate as trying to play you, just human behaviour at work.
But yes, entertaining.

I know friends who are all on dating apps that communicate with one another about matches to make sure they're not accidentally sleeping with the same guy.

Some girls expect that when you match and talk to them before even meeting them that you are meant to stop talking to any other girls.
I've copped the player insult more than a few times when girls who I've just started talking to ask me if I talk to other girls.
It's a big red flag for me and I don't waste my time on any girls who are that mentally unstable from the start.

Hinge is by far the better application if you can be ****ed with it. Unfortunately, I can't at the moment.
Have had some interesting experiences on Tinder, though. Met some great people, had a few other not particularly great experiences.
One of the weirder ones was a girl I chatted to for a few months a few years back. We hit it off, and went on a few dates and whatnot. As we spoke more, she mentioned she was home-schooled in her last few years of high school. Coincidentally, I also found out she was subscribed to the YT channel of the girl I went to formal with (she had 300k+ so it made sense, but still a wild coincidence). The part where it gets a bit strange is that she mentioned the school she had gone to prior to being home-schooled that happened to be a school a number of my close friends had gone to, and would have been in the same grade as her at. Anyway, we gradually stopped talking. She wasn't being particularly responsive to my messages, but would randomly get in-touch (i.e. the main time I can remember was right before Valentine's Day or some such), but I'd figured it wasn't going anywhere by then, and eventually we stopped talking.
There was a few other strange things that I won't get into on here that I was talking about to one of my aforementioned close friends that had gone to the same high-school. She asked for her name and to see pictures, and she had NFI who the girl was. She brought it up when we were with a few other friends from said school, and they all also had NFI who she was. A few weeks later, I found out she'd seemingly blocked me on FB and Tinder. Didn't really bother me, but had no clue why. We'd never argued or anything, and I hadn't mentiond the school thing as we weren't really talking anymore.
To this day, I'd be convinced she was a fake account if I hadn't gone on multiple dates with her. Although there was a few eyebrow raising things, there was no obvious red flags until the whole schooling thing, and I'd enjoyed hanging out with her. I still don't have a clue as to what the go was there.
