So you have decided to ignore everything that took place last season?

That being said Westhoff is down on form at present.

He had a good start to the year but went downhill towards the end of the year and went missing in the finals and this year has showed nothing

Tippet so far has played 3 games for a return of 4 goals, not only that he is only averaging 5.3 disposals, Westhoff is more than doubling that.

Last year Westhoff kicked 34 goals from 16 games, he was always going to taper off towards the end of the season as it was a)His first AFL season and b)Because he has such a light frame.

Westhoff will be a far better player than Tippet, Tippet so far can only manage 1 goal in a side that is desperate for a Tall Key Forward.

not that I'd expect a richmond supporter to spot a good player... BUT

Tippet has his time split between ruck and forward, plus he's being triple teamed when in marking contests in the forward line - Such is the respect already being shown to him as a forward option by opposition coaches and players.

The only time on sunday he was one on one with his opponent he comprehensivley out marked him. (then missed the checkside).

nothing against Westhoff, but the most he'll ever be is a very good 2nd or 3rd forward. Tippet could be a dominant power forward.

He's also still learning the game, and a year younger than Westhoff.
I'm far happier with Tippett at this stage.

Lets ignore the fact he is our 2nd ruckman atm. :)

Take a look this week, when Maric comes in, and then Tippett moves forward.

JUSTIN WESTHOFF - WAY WAY WAY BETTER

the title of this thread acctually made me burst out laughing... what a joke...

Has Tippet done this:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=PdtaIt0cThY

Has He done this :

http://youtube.com/watch?v=oDAlATk6ZEM&feature=related

And Has he done this:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=RGnYxaEbhko&feature=related

And don't say

"Ohh Tippet has only played a few games so NO HE HASN'T done any of that yet" because by saying that you are confirming that Tippet is S___ compared to Westhoff becuase Westhoff has had more time and he is obviously heaps better than Tippet. Westhoff is heaps better, but I must admit that it is a bit of an unfair comparison, since one has played almost 20 games in his AFL career, so its hard to tell who will become the better player, but at the moment it would have the be Westhoff, 100%.

Fact is last year no one rated Westhoff, he got the backpocket player who didn't know how to stand him. Now all the defenders know how to play him.

He won't kick over 30 goals this season.

We do, he's just injured at the moment.
And exactly how is that a relevant point anyway?
Because you are playing someone not equipped to play in the Ruck, meaning he is being used poorly.

Westhoff has the kind of bodyshape that it looks like he will always be a stringbean whereas Tippet looks to have much more scope to baulk up and become a power forward.

Again, I ask, relevence please?
In a thread asking "who will be the better player", exactly how is the fact that we're currently playing him both up forward and in the ruck because we have nobody better currently available an indicator that he won't be a better player than Westhoff?

Basically, what you're saying, is that because Tippett is versatile enough to play both forward and ruck (making it harder for him to score as many goals as he could, but at the same time contributing in another area in which we're light on players), he'll be a worse player than Westhoff.

Wow.

I didn't bring it up!

Maybe if Adelaide hadn't of traded away any chance of some sort of Ruckman they wouldn't need a player not equipped to play the position of Ruck.

Tippet is a forward, and he is not as good as Westhoff.

UNDERSTAND?!?

You said that Tippett was only averaging 1 goal a game, making him a worse prospect than Westhoff.

The rebuttal was that this is because he is playing half of each game in the ruck, which is a valid and relevant excuse. 4 goals from the first 3 games of a bloke playing only half games up forward is a reasonable return.

You replied with "only because you have nobody better"
Which is an irrelevant point, and, anyway, only improves the case for Kurt being a superior player, as he has the versitility to play forward AND ruck in a team currently sitting 5th on the ladder. Remembering that the thread is asking "who will be the better player?" not "who is the better forward?". We need Kurt in the ruck right now, and, contrary to your opinion, he has been very impressive for a first season ruckman. When we have given him full games up forward (which, at this stage, has only been the NAB cup), he's done very well - including almost winning the Michael Tuck medal for BoG in the showdown.

Finally, as I said, we do have ruckmen. Biglands and Moran are both injured, however, and Maric has finally started to show some form again in the SANFL and will likely return to the side soon. Griffin is a good prospect (a Richmond fan should know this, as he picked up a brownlow vote against your mob last season). So, no, we didn't trade away "any chance of some sort of Ruckman". We just have two injured, and one who had a form slump, who is currently being kept out of the side by Tippett

And I don't think he is the better player, FFS!

Don't get so ____en defensive.

BTW my stats were put up in response to the twat who said Westhoff has "Shown nothing", and you didn't get what I said in my last post, I stated Tippet is a forward, then there was a comma meaning it is not carrying on, and he is not as good as Westhoff.

Also Biglands has done an ACL, he won't be back for at least a year, and last time I checked both Messen and Hudson, who are ruckman were traded.

P.P.S Brad Moran is not a ruckman, he is a KP Forward or more likely backman.
