How did RUCCI miss this?

Serendipidy

Because Quayle is actually one of the few decent journalists writing about the AFL. She doesn't go around making stuff up and then reporting it as fact. As a result, she likely has decent sources.

We lose out of all this and to boot haven't actually done anything yet. Nothing has actually been tampered.

Tipstick on the other hand, well, guess who is not going to Sydney anymore?

Bet the AFL comes out tomorrow though and says although prohibited, this doesn't change anything and means nothing.

If this whole fairytale is true then heads need to roll and Triggs needs to be the first to go. How could he sign off on such stupidity?? If true that is. Not jumping at shadows.

What on earth were we thinking with a second-round draft pick? Assuming that detail is accurate. Surely back in 2009 we wouldn't have imagined any situation in which Kurt for a second round pick was going to be reasonable? Perhaps we were thinking he might want to go to a club who finished last and their first round pick would be #1 or something?

In any event, John Reid has some serious explaining to do. And does anyone else at the club wear responsibility for this?

Yeah that doesn't make sense. What idiot would a) make this kind of agreement and b) say a second round pick would be fine!

How the hell were they going to justify that to their members? Tippett's going to the GC and in return we are taking pick #37. Excuse me?

My apologies to the 2012 trade negotiation crew - particularly Harper & Noble. You were fighting with one hand tied behind your backs, before you even set foot in the ring, victims of an illegal and immoral contract signed 3 years previously.

On the other hand, it is now an appropriate time to be hunting down those involved with the signing of this contract in 2009, with nothing less than resignations being acceptable. Trigg's position as CEO is now completely untenable and I expect his resignation on Chapman's desk by the end of the month. John Reid is long gone, so maybe someone can stump up money for a hitman (just kidding.. maybe). Anyone else involved in this fiasco back in 2009 needs to be identified and frogmarched directly out of the Westpac Centre, without being given time to collect their personal belongings.

Wow. Incendiary stuff if true.

Did the Crows really back themselves in that hard so as to turn their back on the Lions' offer last year? One has to wonder what part Reid (who was consulting with the Lions at the time) played too.
Karma's a bitch and I really do hope that he gets deregistered and/or barred from going to Sydney, with Blucher losing his AFL player manager license.

Was Blucher Tippett's manager back when he signed his last deal?

I'm very angry at my football club at the moment. What we get from this trade period is suddenly of no importance to me. As Vader said, all AFC officials involved in this must be sacked.

A team in desperate need of a rebuild should not be giving away both of their first round picks for an unproven state league forward and unproven reserve ruckman. Hell, Gorringe is barely worth pick 13 and he's contracted. Perhaps they're trying to cut down on the time before they return to near the top of the league pecking order, but it just seems bizarre to continue down the recycled player path that saw them end up with a list of 28+ yo and no youngsters.
How old do you think Hickey is?

Trading a first round pick who may or may not end up a decent player for a young ruckman you've seen enough of to form an opinion is smart IMO.

really, the fact we were even ever considering some of the utter shit it was obvious we were considering - to the point where over 90 percent of supporters would have rather get nothing - should have made it obvious in retrospect, heh.

Yep. I think I'm going to cry. :(

But Rucci said the hold up was because Trigg was such a master tactician and negotiator:rolleyes:

Rowey was right - we sold our soul.

Can all those criticsing him, and those expecting the worst here, please step back, take you're foot out of your mouth (you'll probably need to pick up your jaw first.. I still am and I called it) and give the negative nellies a break in the future.

Triggy - on your bike.
Have we just been granted free rein? :D

Just a thought, could we have gone to the AFL knowing we were getting screwed in the trade and by bringing the clause out in the open the AFL would disallow it and force an equitable trade? Or is that wishful thinking?

If the AFL have known about this for a week, surely theyve had time to come up with a punishment?

And Julia Gillard needs to come out and declare today a public holiday, because no one is going to be doing any work!

Yes but if Krud called in the lawyers it may just come back to bite him on the arse, should have gone home to Qld instead of being a money grubbing prostitute!

Yeah, as I said in an earlier post, knowing what's at stake, he and his manager are ****ing morons for drawing attention to this agreement.

If the club is that stupid then we deserve every single bit of punishment we get. IMO if there really was a 'clause' it was made to try and keep Kurt in a desperate bid to win the big one. He re-signed after 2009 didn't he? We came off a really promising season and things were looking real good for 2010 and beyond, Kurt probably wanted/considered leaving in 2009. However we knew Kurt was a big part of out premiership tilt so we wanted to keep him bad. The club struck a deal with him that after the contract ends we will send him on his way back home to QLD. I severely doubt the agreement included the draft picks we were going to offload him for but who knows.

Personally I reckon there was no binding agreement/written into his contract of some sort but I reckon we knew and were told that he was going to come home after 2012 and that there was a verbal understanding that we'd facilitate a trade back to QLD after his contract finished. That's just my opinion though. I don't think there was a so called clause but rather an understanding and verbal agreement.

WHAT THE ****! Seriously WHAT THE ****! Everyone and anyone associated needs to be removed from our football club immediately. What a fking joke. If we have to wear this and cop a punishment then that knob better be deregistered as a player. Same for Blucher.

I need a panadol.
