To be fair Tommy challenging makes sense storyline wise and hasn't detracted from Swann v Moose. Plus the guy has done an incredible amount of work for Impact and this is a great way for him to celebrate his 50th birthday. He's obviously not going to win, but this could be a (no pun intended) swan song type match - one last great showing before he moves to a much more part time role on the roster. That's the impression I get anyway.

Plans were made to shoot the angle the next day but Impact received a message directly from Guevara complaining about the creative direction. Impact in turn contacted Khan and Jericho with this news. Jericho reached out to Impact Executive Vice-President Don Callis about banning Guevara from Impact’s premises.

It was reported that plans were made to shoot the angle with Impact Wrestling, and then Sammy Guevara complained about the creative direction. When Sammy Guevara showed up in Nashville to tape the segment he received a message from Chris Jericho telling him to go back home.


Now “AEW management is apparently concerned that Guevara’s actions may have possibly hurt their relationship with Impact Wrestling.” We will keep a close eye on this story.

Fightful Select has confirmed this story and the AEW star’s identity as being Sammy Guevara.

UPDATE: PWInsider had an update with additional details on what took place with Sammy Guevara and the Impact Wrestling TV tapings. Multiple Impact sources reportedly confirmed the initial story is accurate.

Additionally, the plan was to play off of Guevara quitting the Inner Circle, and both AEW and Impact worked out plans for the storyline. Also, it was noted that Guevara did not fly to Nashville the day before the Impact TV tapings were scheduled to start, and then he was rescheduled to arrive in Nashville a few hours before the TV tapings were slated to start.
According to Impact sources, while everyone had agreed to the initial ideas, Guevara started to text Impact officials about some alternative ideas for the storyline and reportedly “not wanting to do what was agreed to.” As a result, officials for Impact Wrestling opted to cancel Guevara from appearing at the TV tapings.
The plans that were reportedly put in place for Guevara later had Black Taurus of Decay utilized in a similar role in his place. Despite what took place with Guevara, Impact sources claimed there is no issue with AEW, and the relationship between two sides is said to be “golden.” However, whether that will continue to be the case after this incident remains to be seen.

No heat between Sammy and AEW and no heat between Impact and AEW. Probably heat between Impact and Sammy.

Doubt there'd be no heat between Sammy and AEW - the storyline had been approved by Khan and co and Sammy went over the head of his bosses and complained to Impact officials. He's an employee, and if any employee did this at any company I can't imagine their boss would be fine with how it played out.

Certainly not that as that is all from old tapings. Taurus will be taking the spot of Sammy in whatever they had planned - that is if they didn't scrap it all together and replace it with something else.
