Did you know we won the priemiership last year?

It's too bad you didn't also get to enjoy the three or four seasons of being near the top of the ladder, winning almost every week, and the two or three years after the premiership where you're still making finals each year and are an outside chance of winning it. Instead all you got of that enjoyment was four weeks.

The only reason people think its an issue is because Luke Dalhaus is 1.78. If he extended that leg into a ruckman its perfectly legal(which it still is). It was just accidental contact that happens sometimes. Tom Hawkins is quite adept at this exact thing. If he happens to boot Caleb Davis in the face while legally protecting his space is that worthy of a suspension? Toby Greene has done some silly things but he is not in the wrong here. I still believe he will be suspended though.
it's perfectly legal to throw a punch at someone, providing you're more than an arms length away and therefore too far out to actually make contact. Greene made the decision to stick his leg out to make contact, and his leg ended up making contact to the jaw of a player (who didn't duck, who did absolutely nothing to intitate the contact) and as a result of hitting him high, Greene must go

Are you for real?

And the only reason Dangerfield was suspended is because Kreuzer hit his head in the process of an otherwise quality tackle. Why should this be any different?

Its certainly an interesting one. When I first saw it I thought he'd be in trouble but thinking about it some more - he clearly had his eyes on the ball and players are allowed to use their legs to protect their space. The more I think about it - I reckon a free kick (for the high contact) was probably enough.

Greene is a reckless player though - a very talented one as well as he's quite possibly the best small forward in the comp.

A Player makes Prohibited Contact with an opposition Player if the Player:
(a) makes contact or attempts to make contact with any part of their body with an opposition Player in a manner likely to cause injury;
(i) above the shoulders (including the top of the shoulders); or
(i) kicks or attempts to kick an opposition Player, unless contact is accidentally made whilst the Player is Kicking the football;
(l) engaging in rough conduct against an opposition Player which in the circumstances is unreasonable;

He is gone - rightly so as well. Only a player of his intelligence would think that flying stud up to the face karata move is acceptable in our game.

None of that is relevant - the first three all occur in legal marking contests (knees to the head, feet in the back)so its clearly all dependant on the last one which not relevant because Greene's actions weren't unreasonable, just as its not unreasonable to do any of that in a marking contest.

Nothing in it guys - just a flying kick studs up to the face of someone about to legally try tackle him.. I like how he pushed the leg further once he realised he made contact to the head.

Irrespective of whether this is a deliberate act/reportable offence etc, you have to admire Greene's athleticism. Takes the ball in the air, puts Dalhaus out of the contest with a perfectly placed foot, spins 180 degrees while in the air, before landing cat like on the ground and springing forward ready to deliver to a teammate. In a Greene vs Predator face off, I reckon humanity would be in good hands - this kid is a weapon!

This was an intentional fend off with an extended leg 4ft in the air. It wasn't a marking contest and there is no right for tobygren to stick his foot 4 ft into the air. It's very dangerous and totally unecessary unless you are trying to hurt someone.

Eyes on the ball is a rubbish argument. He knew what was coming and you all know it. Anyone who thinks this was a simply accident has never taken a mark or jumped for a footy before. This is not something you do for balance. It's a high fend off that drew blood at the least, and is an intentionall stud boot to the head at worst. He needs to go for it.

Ps dont think players like waite should be allowed to "protect dropzone" by sticking his boots out at right angle face height either.

Why is a standard tackle that results in an incidental injury reportable but an instance of the standard practice of protecting space in the marking contest that results in an incidental injury not?

It wasn't a marking contest. He was receiving a handball.
