Finally, someone who gets it and understands the rules unlike many here who defend him. May have been an accident, but it is still Greenes responsibility to avoid contact to the face. He saw a player running at him and chose to raise the leg. People have been suspended for smaller accidental incidents

Well look I know Greene has a bit of form when it comes to doing shit acts and I really dislike him for that but I really cant see any intent or malice to hurt another player here. Its a matter of his intention to do the "reckless" act rather than the intent of the injury.

I think people on the other side of the boat are saying "how on earth can you get rubbed out for that" just have to take a step back and look how the rules are being applied, Its all about protecting the head. The action he DECIDED to take didn't consider the possibility of harm, therefore as I previously said will probably go.

He's far from the only player to do it and I can't believe the AFL haven't already tried to stamp it out. He could have quite easily lifted his leg without going stud first if he is simply protecting himself.

I think under the current rules he shouldn't be suspended, but because it's him he will get weeks. It shouldn't be allowed though.

'Eyes on the ball defence'.
Such a crock.
Are we really trying to suggest he didn't know precisely where the ball, his boot and the bloke's head were??
Studs in the face:100% deliberate.
Greene's actions probably saved Daulhaus from a suspension.
FFS.
Cut back on the roids Hulk.

Literally arguing over the difference between a foot and a fist.....
If he had a clenched fist and tried to fend someone off and catches them high his gone,

Why? Eyes on the ball, contesting the ball, in the contest, most certainly not gone.
If Greene tried to actually fend off a player by plunging his fist into their face, of course he's gone. But in this situation, he's not trying to fend off, he's attempting to take possession of the ball.

What was he going do? Sweep the leg!

Sweep the leg doesn't help when you have moves like this:

Greene obviously a big fan of 80's movies.

well thats right..... a simple raised knee to provide a shield from an oncoming player to buy some time to dish off a hand pass which is a common place tactic would have been fine. Decided to extend his leg with studs up accidentally caught someone in the head. Remember he did decide to raise his foot to that level where harm was likely.

I thought it was deliberate and bloody disgusting tbh. The fact it was Greene and we have never seen this happen before in how many years of footy suggests it was probably deliberate. Why didn't he raise his knee like normal? Why did he extend his leg? Bloody sicko.

Gavin Wanganeen made a career out of collecting opponent with all different limbs during his playing days. He had it down to an art form.

If he wasn't trying to fend off why was his leg extended with studs up directed at the path of an opposition player? what was he trying to do in your view? (serious question)

If he was 'defending his space' then it was an intentional act. If it was an instinctual action, then it was reckless. Either way, he will be suspended, or should be.

Hilarious reading posts saying 'but it's just part of football' :drunk: No its not. How many times have you seen a player, when receiving a handball, fend off an opponent with a boot to the head? Zero. You can't 'protect space' by raising your boot into an opponent's head. It's pretty simple.

If he isn't suspended then it's a green light for other players to pull the same stunt.

He sticks his foot out like this nearly every week. If the afl have a problem with the technique it should of been dealt with already. More reactionary bullshit and trial by media rather than anything to do with enforcing rules of the game.
You can wave your arms around with clinched fist every week.....no problem.

Its only when the fist lands on someones jaw does it become a problem.

Cant believe you cant see this guy is a dog.

1. He's jumping off the ground to grab the ball
2. He's protecting himself from being tunnelled by putting his leg out to stop Dahulhaus

1. thats clear and obvious to all
2. the bolded part, that sounds awfully like the purpose of a "fend off", as for tunnelling... no way and as The Emu posted just above he extends his leg after his made contact then his head turns.

I think it should be looked at.

I think you missed the sarcasm...

The extending leg stuff. Im not sure how its possible to plan to do something like that in real time. More likely his foot slipped on grease or something.
