The preamble of 15.4.3 explicitly states that the rules of prohibited contact still apply.
"Other than the Prohibited Contact identified under Law 15.4.5, a Player may make contact with another Player: "

The way I read it 15.4.5 lists the prohibited types of contact. 15.4.3 lists the circumstances that 15.4.5 does not apply. Taking a mark is listed as one of those so when taking a mark the prohibited types of contact in 15.4.5 are permitted. Receiving a handball isn't mentioned in 15.4.3 so the rules in 15.4.5 still apply.

I just looked at it again for the first time since last night. Be it Toby Greene or not....it was pretty f***ing bad.

A Rugby League fan watched it with me and could not believe it.

The crap that spilled out of Carey's mouth post incident was almost as bad. I rate some of Carey's 'special' comments but he got this one horribly wrong. I think Greene is in deep sh*t.

What about the children!!! The AFL will make something up to rub him out.
No intent, not reckless, not against the rules.
Huh? You've never heard of being reported for unduly rough play?

Or, as it is now:
19.2.2 Specific Offences Any of the following types of conduct is a Reportable Offence:
(a) intentionally or carelessly:
(vi) engaging in rough conduct against an opponent which in the circumstances is unreasonable

Why don't people consult the rules before commenting? (You will note that the word "reckless" doesn't even appear any more..... ).

If you look at the pictures and video footage given, it shows Greene was focused on the ball and was protecting space with his leg. Dahlhaus stupidly ran right into his foot.

The only reason this is even looked at is because Greene is a repeat offender.

A player running towards an opponent receiving a handball cannot expect to receive a boot in the face as a means of protecting space.

Fair enough. I see it differently but am not a lawyer.
If you're correct, it's still bizarre that the speccy is allowed, as a full blown knee to the head is hardly "incidental"

Also the other parts of 15.4.3 such as shepherds- none of them are allowed to have high contact - therefore the prohibited contact still applies. ?

So prohibited contact is applicable to 15.4.3
A)
B)
C)
D)
But then all of the sudden ignored for E)?

Why not? Happens every other week and only Greene gets looked at for it.
BS.

Show me incidents that happen every week where a player protects space by putting his foot in an opponents face (and gets away with it too) that isn't a marking contest.

Both points are factually correct

Why not? Happens every other week and only Greene gets looked at for it.
Players use a boot to protect space when getting a handball every other week? Even the people defending him are saying it's pretty much unseen...

View attachment 402799 LOOK at the "STOPS" on a standard pair of footy boots...Imagine that crashing into your face! Players cannot be reckless and fend off with their boots!

why would you run into his boot?

Agree totally, but they've been ruling on outcomes lately (where the head is involved given Sloane on Blicavs).

I'm just wondering if they'll be consistent.

Incidental, I reckon, would be using a knee to protect the space. I think they'll see throwing your studs out as something different.

I know. It's absurd. The Grundy tackle suspension was also bullshit.

You obviously don't know the rules so stop with this "rubbish" when you are clearly wrong. ANY head high contact can be deemed reportable. The head is sacrosanct or have you been living under a rock for the last few years?

the rules change every 5 minuets youd have to be a human right lawyer to keep up

you are allowed to protect yourself when going for the ball in the air has been that way for 100 years.

no doubt its breaking some w***er rule in a similar manner to how you are not allowed to tackle anymore

I've been following the game for a long time and I can't say I ever recall seeing something like this happen.
