Hawkins given a week for a forceful swinging arm and Greene offered the same for a "tap"... at best another fine, not deserving of a suspension especially in finals

The MRO stuffed up by not charging him last week and sending straight to tribunal in the hope they would do the dirty work - shows his incompetence because anyone could have told you they’d find a way to let him off. The AFL is fundamentally a business and they want their best players playing in finals, the problem is they are also charged with being custodians of the game so they are, shall we say, a little compromised. He should’ve given him a week last week and if he got off on appeal then so be it.

The problem is now he’s given him a week for something that doesn’t look quite as bad (unless there are other angles unavailable to us), but I’d have thought it would be fairly easy to argue careless in this case and he’ll get downgraded to a fine.

The MRO and AFL are stuffing up all over the place, which doesn’t do anyone any favours.

Now think what you like about Toby Greene, but it seems like he’s basically been given no disincentive by the AFL to change behaviour other than increasing fines. If what he did last week wasn’t worth a suspension then why should he think he would cop one by doing what he did last night? I don’t like how he conducts himself on the field, it’s increasingly less palatable and more likely he will end up causing serious injury at some point, but in this case the AFL have made their own bed and will need to lie in it this week. I’ve no doubt he’ll appeal and win, and continue acting like he does because nobody has punished it accordingly.

Love child? The same love child that consistently gets over-punished for any indiscretions. The love child that always gets the worst fixtures and consistently lose free kick counts (particularly in important games)...no noise of affirmation to protect us.

Your club has a hashtag #freekickdogs and is very proficient at leeching revenue from AFL coffers with the “poor me” houso attitude.

At least support Collingwood or Hawthorn if you are going to throw stones about “love child” relationships with the AFL. You guys are still well and truly on the boob.

When the AFL handed him a $7,500 fine last week for not-eye-gouging Bontempelli, you'd think he would count his blessings, heed the warning and pull his head in. He must live in his own bubble in west Sydney. Just a complete lack of self-awareness.

Dumb as dogshiit. He might've cost his team a flag. And for what? A bit of mindless niggle...
I'm surprised his coaches haven't clued him in on how to behave and avoid the needless suspensions

I’ll give you an analogy.

GWS is like the teacher’s son, he is always thought of getting special treatment but in reality the teacher’s insecurity of the thoughts around him make him over-punish and ensure he is not seen to be giving a leg up.

He still loves his son and wants him to do well but if it’s a close situation he always gives a whack.

Western Bulldogs are like the delinquent son on a millionaire.

They have siblings like Hawthorn and Richmond that are smart and well put together but the Dogs are inclined to want the easy way out and be the trust fund baby instead.

The father loves the son and continues to find jobs and use contacts to help out but ultimately there is only so much you can do for a perennial loser.

And that is why you guys are the real love child and we just the fake love child.

Well Greene has copped a one match ban for his actions last night. I really question the guys cerebral capacity. Got away with it in the first final, now does it again and is missing a PF at the MCG. GWS really need Greene free for this one. It’ll now make it really hard for them.

Apologies if I’ve missed it but did Brisbane provide a medical report that helped lead to this charge? On the vision it’s hard to say it was worse than last week, though I have no doubt it was intentional. Got no sympathy for the guy as he’s a consistent grub and going at people’s eyes is stupidly dangerous. Much like how Ablett eventually got done for his elbows this year, it’s hard to be sad for Greene, even if this incident was less deserving of suspension than the previous one/s.

Yep, this. I cannot believe he would even go there. Not only has he let himself down, he has let down his coach and team mates. Greene is built for finals, and now he will be drinking coke and eating pies in the stand.
