McDermott is in the mix to win it. Patterson should make the final and if she does a PB and maybe adds 2 or 3 cms she's a chance to push for a 3rd to 5th spot.

The B group have significantly better PB's. They will make up decent ground on Moloney.
 
McDermott and Patterson are in different qualifying high jump groups but both have cleared 1.93 with no misses on 3 different height jumps. 12 go thru to final. 7 have cleared it in McDermott's group and 9 in Patterson's group. 1.95 will be good enough to qualify it seems.
 
Katarina Johnson-Thompson getting injury is a big blow. Rivalry with thiam was going to highlight

Ryan Crouser broke the 30 year old world record at the US Trials and is tipped to beat it here. This was one of the 9 track and field events moved to an morning/arvo final for prime time viewing in US.

The US runner of their final leg lost ground and got passed by three other teams!

Real catastrophe for them.
