so if I buy something for $20 and pay $20 it costs me $50? you've lost me.
You buys something for $20. To pay for it, you give the cashier a $50 note. You get $30 in change from that $50 (following so far???). Just because you got $30 in change, it doesn't change the cost of the item. Think of Treloar as the $20. The 2 1st Rd picks plus the 3rd rd pick (68 or something like that) is the $50 you used to pay. The pick they gave back to you (28 I think) is the change. The figures I used are not indicative but the principle is that you paid for Treloar with 2 1st rd picks and got a 2rd in return. To say you didn't pay 2 1st rounders is just wrong- even my 5 year old can see that

Its because you are blatantly one eyed.

Both were contracted.
Both spoke to the respective clubs. geting an offer unbeknownst to their cub.
Both demanded to be trwded or they werent coming back.

1 was a club captain but the other was only on his 1st contract pick 1.

Do yes its only your complete bias that doesnt see it as exactly the same.
Only 1 threatened to retire if not traded- the other said he would honour the contract he signed. 1 would honour the contract, 1 would not. How do you not see that distinction?
On that, I'm not saying the Bulldogs were perfect as we did approach a contracted player (albeit one you were possibly planning to trade away later).

Have you just changed what happened in your head? Boyd said he would have waited 12 months and gone home then, Griffen said they're was no way we was coming back and he'd retire if we didn't trade him. You can't dispute these facts, it's what happened.

And that's your opinion, we just choose to hold our captain to a higher standard than our other players. I guess you don't agree. I would have hated to see the inevitable vitriol you would have directed at Scully over recent years. But he's played well this year so it's probably OK
He's always been good for us, I've never heard any suggestion of vitriol. Can't beleive you would think that. He played a more defensive role outside in the beginning and has been able to expand his game as the guys around him have developed, obvious really

you insinuated (yes a big word) we paid purely 2 first rounders but when you got called out your now arguing semantics (yes another funny word). I reckon you'd cheat at scrabble.

I think the main point is your original post implied that Collingwood paid two first rounders for Treloar, when in fact they paid two first rounders for Treloar and pick 28. There's a significant difference between those two statements, and failing to mention that the deal involved a second round pick going to the magpies is blatantly misleading.

As for the point you were originally making, are you really trying to say that Collingwood trading two firsts for Treloar, who is comfortably the second best player on our list now, and a second round pick, is anywhere near comparable to trading pick 6 and one of your best mids (and club captain) for a first year player, who had yet to establish himself as even a best 22 player, on a million dollar contract?

Don't get me wrong here, I actually think Boyd has the tools to develop in to one of the better key forwards in the game, but don't try to deflect the ludicrous price your club paid for that deal by using the Treloar trade. You're just embarrassing yourself.

someone call the circus and tell them they've lost their clown.

2 first rounders minus a 2nd rounder doesn't = paying 2 first rounders. A 5yo could see that.

can you keep the thread on topic now pls. this isn't the AT thread.
Surely you're not that dumb?

yer it may backfire but I would say that he is 20 yrs old, in his third season and time is on his side. I reckon he could get good really quickly.

News about to break about young Tom and teammate Zaine Cordy... both suspended indefinitely....

punch-on between the two... from club website, just released:
The Western Bulldogs Football Club confirms that it has dealt with an incident in the last several weeks involving two of its players; Tom Boyd and Zaine Cordy.

The incident involved an altercation between Tom and Zaine, in which both players were affected by alcohol.

The Club is strongly against any form of violent behaviour and is extremely disappointed in the actions of both players, particularly by the actions of Tom.

The Club has responded by invoking a range of sanctions and other measures:

  • - It has required Tom and Zaine to apologise and explain their conduct to their teammates and colleagues
  • - It has required Tom to undergo appropriate counselling
  • - It has suspended Tom and Zaine from AFL selection until the Club deems it appropriate for both to return
  • - It has imposed the maximum available fine of $5000 in respect of the relevant unacceptable aspects of Tom’s behaviour
Tom and Zaine have accepted these sanctions, and they have all been implemented.

Additionally, Tom has volunteered a significant personal contribution of time and money to a not for profit organisation focused on the prevention of social violence.

Tom and Zaine have committed to the Club that there will be no repetition of such behaviour and that they will atone to their teammates and the Club.

The Club accepts the sincerity of their remorse and commitment. We will continue to fully support both players.

The Club will have no further comment to make on the matter.
