Completely wrong back then mate
Wasn't aware at that stage how bad the breakdown between us and Griff was.
And that's proven by the deal we signed which is nowhere near that offer.
No offence but it was pretty widely reported GWS offered a top 10 pick for Griffen IIRC.
Again IIRC GWS didn't want to release Boyd and Boyd said he'd stay if no deal struck. As you say Griffen wasn't coming back. Again as you say that difference in leverage meant we got bent over in the Boyd deal.
All in all, I'm still comfortable with it. Boyd showed enough last week to keep me quietly confident he will be a key part of tilt at a flag in the future.
As Boyd said when he was drafted, he's a Tippett/Hawkins type. As we know those guys at 20 weren't special. Like Boyd.
Sure we've overpaid on current form. But it's premature hyperbole to say Boyd will be shit or it will cost us other players or a flag.
And really Griffen is cooked so Boyd only cost us P6 in real terms plus salary we would just have had to pay to retain some other cooked or injury prone player like a Higgins or a Cooney.
It really is too early to say.
And honestly, most Dog fans who watched our Pygmy fwd line fail in finals for years accept that we had to do something to ensure that history wouldn't repeat.
