bullshit unless there are 2 sets of rules here.

There's a difference between someone referencing a group of haters as flogs and someone specifically targeting one poster like you're doing. Lighted up fella and let the man celebrate being right and winning a premiership.

Today Tom Boyd became a man. Performances like this could make him a beast over the next 5-7 years
Good grief. It was one game. He deserves credit for stepping up when it mattered but can we shelve this bullshit about him "becoming a man" and it somehow guaranteeing his next 150 games?

Is he now suddenly nailed on to kick 50 goals next season?

Is Tom Boyd now a top-line key forward worth a million bucks a year?

Yes, he earns the same as Tippett and they both play the same position. However one is 29 and doesn't perform in grand finals and one is 21 and was close to BOG in a grand final. Boyd will also get stronger and was pick #1 for a reason.

Doesn't that merely indicate that Tippett is also overpaid?

It's one game.

Boyd was great today but it will take more than that to truly justify his salary.

Why do people have to overreact to whatever happened five minutes ago? It's bullshit.

Who the **** cares? He helped bring a flag to the the Bulldogs, I'm sure the last thing they are worried about is how much they are paying him. He played a big part in winning the flag, I don't think the digits on his contract matter anymore.

That's what is being asserted.

Of course they do. Don't be ridiculous.

Shane Ellen kicked 5 goals in the 1997 GF. I guess he was worth a million dollars a season too.

Boyd was great today. But why do people have to pretend that one game has made his entire career and suddenly vindicated his exorbitant salary? That's rubbish.

No. Why is your benchmark 50 goals?

TBoyd doesn't even play as a permanent forward. He is part ruck, and part forward, and that is where he has played all season.

He had a good final series, and a great Grand Final. That suggests he is a decent player at a minimum. Of course it doesn't guarantee he will be a champion.

Even if he never plays a game again, I would still consider the deal a success. His contribution helped deliver a flag, and without him it would have been a lot tougher given Tom Campbell's injury.

They needed to offer that money to get Boyd to come to them, and without him the Bulldogs last flag would still be 1954.

No. Why is your benchmark 50 goals?
Well, it can be 40 if you want to lower the bar.

If you're paying a guy a million bucks a year, how many goals do you reckon he needs to kick to justify that wage?

Just lowering the bar again. Boyd was drafted and recruited as a key forward.

He had a good final series, and a great Grand Final. That suggests he is a decent player at a minimum. Of course it doesn't guarantee he will be a champion.
So people should stop carrying on like his massive contract has now been totally vindicated on the back of one great performance.

Even if he never plays a game again, I would still consider the deal a success.
And that would be complete bullshit because you'd have paid a guy $7 million to play 30 games.

Why say something that is so obviously ridiculous?

His contribution helped deliver a flag, and without him it would have been a lot tougher given Tom Campbell's injury.
That would be just as true if he was earning half as much.

Is Jason Johannisen worth a million bucks a year too? Because "his contribution helped deliver a flag" so I guess that means the sky is the limit. How about Liam Picken and Matthew Boyd? Sign them up? Six figures for all.

And has he now justified that salary because of one big game?

Boyd didn't singlehandedly win that game today. Let's put the brakes on some of this hyperbole.

Fantastic performance today, he must feel like the weight of the world has been lifted from his shoulders.

Well done for shutting a lot of us up, Tom!

Yes. I think he will be better for it too. More confidence can only be a good thing for a player like him.

Hopefully he builds on this form and becomes a real beast in years to come.

He hasn't been playing as a permanent key forward. So a high goal tally is not the right benchmark at the moment. I think you need to get over that fact. Premiership winning coach Luke Beveridge will play him where he is most needed and can be most effective.

He was one of the most influential players on the ground today and played a big part in our premiership and the final series in general. That is massive for a 40 game ruckman/forward. I would suggest that makes the first two years a success. So major tick. Let's judge the the other five years of his contract once we've seen the output.

Don't give me this false nuance.

He's on a million bucks a year. To justify that wage, he needs to be a blue-chip key forward.

If you think he can justify that wage as a back-up ruckman, you're kidding yourself.

He was one of the most influential players on the ground today and played a big part in our premiership and the final series in general.
That doesn't mean his salary is justified.

Very few players in the competition are worth a million bucks a year.

Liam Picken and Easton Wood also had good finals series and were also influential today. Are they now worth a million bucks per year as well?

Sorry, just to clarify. You think he's been worth a million dollars a year over the last two seasons?

Why not just acknowledge the obvious? He hasn't. He had a great game today. There's no doubt about that. But that single performance does not justify his salary. I don't know why you'd even argue against this.

Wow at all you salter posters. The guy was massive on the big stage. Done more than buddy

Is it that ******* hard to say he done a good job?
He done a good job. No question.

But that alone doesn't justify a million bucks a year.

Is it that hard to acknowledge this very obvious point?

Which other Bulldogs players are worth a million bucks a year? Where will Boyd finish in this year's B&F?

Tee Hee. You are masturbating over this issue even harder than I am over Tom Boyd and his Oremiership medallion. Worth every cent.

A great ruck forward can be just as valuable as a permanent forward.

I think last year he was on a standard wage because he was a second year player. So I don't believe we have paid him $2m for the first two seasons. It's more like $1.2m. I would say that is justified for two years given he ended up becoming an integral part of our premiership winning team.

How many bulldog games you seen this year? I've seen them all, and he has been very important since he came back into the side in the latter half of the year.
