why on earth are the "authorities" treating sporting organisations as autonomous?.... Why was Fahour who was playing footy in a league that is effectively governed by the AFL charged and yet Bugg not?..... Autonomy of sporting bodies... what a farce.

So because its sporting you can basically do what you want? Why not corporate bodies?.... I want my company with 20 staff to be able to punch each other in the face and allow me to decide on the punishment.. the "authorities" should respect my autonomy. Honestly how ridiculous does that sound?

If sporting bodies don't have a degree of latitude, most sports will have to close down, immediately.

Without such latitude, the first person to throw a punch in a boxing match gets dragged away for assault.

Tackle someone in football? Assault.

And by the law, 'anyone' could (and arguable should) arrest the 'assailant' immediately in order to prevent the "repetition or continuance of the offence".

I look forward to seeing you walk onto the MCG and arrest the first guy who bumps into someone...

So Bugg gets 6 while the bloke who nearly killed Billy Slater gets 5. Thats how big an over reaction this incident was.
