That’s your opinion.

We know we have to overpay for talent right now. If he delivers a full season like his first half of this season.

He would be the premier ruck in the comp. We would be fine with that

Wasn't a half, it was like 5-6 games.

He's never played a season of high standard football and maintained it.

😂

I watched Hell of a lot of your games in the first half of the season. He was very good.

If he was that bad. You lot wouldn’t be moaning about losing him

Should be considered fact that this is a massive overpay in isolation. However, look at the knock on effect that this has had on the Saints prospects in becoming a destination club. Not to mention they have NAS who needs convincing that the chances of long-term success are strong. It is a chance worth taking

What was he averaging by the end of the season?

You know, because full seasons are the true measurement of stats.

Not cherry picking bits and pieces out.
😂
Injured, mentally checked out. Carlton were just utter crap.

All play a part in it.

What we do know. Is that his first half of the season was borderline AA ruck.

Clueless Bullshit statements etc etc

Top 10 pick for TDK is a great get for the club.
Everyone was saying the same (and then some) about us getting an almost identical pick (in a stronger draft, where our pick wasn’t going to slide as much as yours will) for Battle, yet less than 12 months later he’s made an AA team (albeit from an identical season numerically to the one he had for us last year).

I’m not a fan of the move as I’ve made clear, but he’s still a very good player when in form and would have cost at least that much in a trade, so it’s not that good of a return.

Even you guys were reportedly offering him $1.1mil PA just to stay, don’t forget.

Top 10 pick for a B grader is good business.

I would have loved to have seen the comments from you campaigners if TDK had been under contract and requested a trade to the Saints. You would have been asking for two top 10 picks and saying he was the second coming. Cracks me up.

Also, if he was such a B Grader, there are reports that Carlton upped their offer to $1.3 million. Seems decent coin for a so-called B Grader.

Based on saints banked salary cap, 1.7mil is probably a similar cap hit to carltons 1.1mil offer anyway and saints could front load it so if in 2yrs time they are pushing for top 4 there salary cap won't have any issues. If you look at the possible flow on affect like getting keeping nas, bringing in other recruits its a good move, personally I don't like him that much as a player, just due to some of his traits and wouldn't have done it based on his talent however if you like the talent and traits he has its a good move for the saints and the overpay really isn't that bad.

Holy hell, this thread🙄

Saints overpay to get a player out of their club.
Port offered 2.5 x 2 and another 6 for NWM and he stayed
North offering 800 x 5 for Windhager who is highly likely to take 4 years for less.
Clubs that are not going well need to pay overs.

Carlton are already paying overs to players on the career downslope trajectory.

There's no room for those on the upslope.

So after reading the last few pages, it occurs to me that carlton supporters no longer need to ask for salt and vinegar to their take away chips...they can just add it themselves
