1.1 million with the cap rises, is probably equivalent to 900k previously, while probably a little more than you’d want to pay on a ruck, especially one that much of that is still based on potential rather than results, I’d say it’s the new normally for top 6 player in your starting line up.

If he stays credit to him as it’s obviously significantly less than reported offers elsewhere.

But I don’t think the figure in reality is so far off the mark with the TPP rises. You’d just hope Carlton as smart enough to not pass on full uplift as the TPP rises, as the current TV deal ends in 2031. Which would still have TDK contracted for another 2 years. So 2032 based on history will be the next large TPP increase. (12.6% increase this year on the back of the new TV deal). I also don’t think Carlton is one of the clubs reported as to not hand over increases, seems to be rare with WCE & Essendon the two clubs generally pointed to.

It really would mean at the new level of 17.6 million, if you assume he is being paid it averaged out (which never happens) he is 6% of the salary cap. With Curnow, McKay, Walsh, Weitering, Cripps, those as the 6 are probably going to be chewing up around 25% of the salary cap, which is most likely in line with most clubs top 6.

So TDK would want to play as a top 6 player & Carlton are at a point where this group has to start getting results, it’s hard to believe that after this there would be an ability to chase a 1.1+ free agent & even if they could pull together that, other clubs will have the ability to blow it out of the water
