I read today in some magazine i got from the newspaper, that Tommahawk is a clone of Jonothan Brown, should i beleive this and get my hopes up??? if not, who is he like??
thanks

Sure its true, they grabbed a sample of his DNA and impregnated his mother with an egg that had had the DNA inserted. Those whacky lab guys in deep in the bowels of the Reg Hickey stand do that sort of thing all the time. How else do you think we end up with so many 'father/sons' ;)

He's not like anybody, he's unique, and when he retires in fifteen years time with two thousand goals to his name, as well as twelve Coleman medals and a Brownlow or three he'll be spoken about in hushed terms as long as footy is played. :)

The kid will be himself, if he is good, well we got him at a bargain price, but like so many things these days, he could very well be a dud.

It doesn't seem that way, but lets not get ahead of ourselves, lets just let him be and hopefully he will learn the trade well.

Big futrue for him, seeing him and N Ablett in the Goal square is going to have opposition bacline worried for years to come hopfully. But lets see him get a few games under his belt first.

Yeah, I am not sure what all the hype is about. He obviously is a standout pick, but let's just see how he fairs in the vfl before we start counting all our eggs.

And Hawkins will only be as good as the ball delivery into the forward line. And with the work that needs to be done on Corey, Enright, Tenace and the likes (i could go on) kicking accuracy I wouldn't be getting my hopes up yet.

the big fella looks ok, Big boy. ive got him in my dream team hoping he will get a few games. Only on the reserves of course

I'd be very surprised if he doesn't play seniors this year, but it won't be for a while. Certainly he's got the size, but it'll be the pace of the game and learning defensive skills that will take time to adjust to. Still I'm hopeful he'll be there before long.

Whats going on with the other Ablett isnt he meabt to be all that? Essendon V Geelong in three years With Hawkins at one end with Djerrrka(or however its spelt) and Ablett feeding the pill withn Gumbleton at the other with Davey, Jetta, Dempsey and Watson feeding him..Some very good matches ahead me thinks..

I've read a whole heep of reports of Hawkins' practise games with comments like 'a bit overweight', 'a bit slow', 'amazing hands', 'great kick'.
How does an 18 year old turn up to anything overweight unless he's natural porker.
How does a natural porker still get rave revues.
I'm thinking two words
Doug Wade.............
Imagine the size of this kid when he gets to his late twenties, not even Doug was overweight when he started. Personally I think its great!

This kid is not a real porker He is listed as 197cm 105 kg. Egan listed as 196cm 101kg, Playfair 198 cm 98kg NAblett 194cm 95kg. I think any weight this kid carries is in his legs which are like a couple of mallee gumtrees. Probably a bit lighter already from preseason training Attached a link for a pic from Williamstown VFL game a couple of weeks ago.

cheers tiredcat for the pics, looks far from being fat, and that was takin' weeks ago so he should be in good nick now.

I don’t think it will take long for Tom to make his debut if King is restricted from playing. It has already been said that if King is out then Ottens will have to play ruck for at least half a quarter. Tom will have to be played if we are going to play a three tall/three small forward line.

This setup works the best for us I think as we have three brilliant small forwards in Gaz, Chappy and Stokes who can all have a run in the midfield. Play Mooney as the designated CHF and NAB to help him out and create a diversion option, but that leaves a hole at FF that I think only Tom can fill. The only other options are Hank and Spencer and both have shown little. Honestly I think we will see him debut in round 5. By this time he will have shown enough at VFL level and King will no doubt be unavailable due to some cataclysmic event.

ok, yes he is overweight by about 8kg's and he is not as fast as Riewoldt in a straight line.

He has great hands and good mobility and a thumping long kick

Jono Brown has much better agility (unbelievable agility to be honest) and a different playing style

His comparison to Neitz is pretty accurate

he is pretty much everything you want out of a big power forward, give him a couple of preseasons and he will be kicking 70+ a season
