If there deserves to be an overreacting thread for anyone in the first two rounds, it is this guy.

Massive in his teams win last week, and was a big reason why Freo never really blew the Dogs out of the water.

28 disposals, 11 tackles and 12 clearances this week.

He will be a top 10 inside mid by the end of the year the way he's going, and he's only in his 3rd season. Although might slow down when Boyd comes back and he doesn't have as much responsibility.

Anyway, great to see him come back after the suspension at the end of last year and prove his worth :thumbsu:

mind = blown at him playing at the level he is, makes me think he is pinging on the field, somebody drug test him.

Looking forward to Liberatore, Wallis, Smith vs Cunnington, Bastinac Ziebell over the coming years.

I'm so happy he's getting recognition. He's an absolute freak in the middle. Will be one of the premier inside mids in the competition for a long time.

I just can't wait to see what his peak is. If he's playing like this then I wonder if he could be the first son of a brownlow medallist to win one for himself.

i was very impressed
they discussed with Champion Data yesterday how good his inside play was. in round 1, he had 71% disposal efficiency when under direct physical pressure (ie. with someone hanging off him). AFL average is around 40%

from what i saw today, it looked about the same. so quick, and so clean. doggies have some good young players to work around, will just take 2-3 years for them to push for top 8 again.

He probably is a top 10 Inside mid right now, Reputation alone holds him out, Right now based on his preformance so far this year he's one of the premier inside Midfielders.

I can think of 7 I would definitely have ahead of him (Watson, Kennedy, J.Selwood, Judd, Mitchell, Swallow and Thompson). Mitchell played HBF though last week. Thompson didn't play a great game round 1 either.

Ablett and Pendlebury obviously also good inside mids, but they just play as all-round midfielders rather than one specific role imo.

So yeah while I'm probably forgetting a couple, he's on the edge at the very least.

My fantasy team is loving him this year.

No but seriously. Great inside mid. Dominated clearances for most of first half today & was equally as good last week. Something Carlton are lacking the moment.

He is looking promising, I had to dump him from my SC team last year due to consistency issues, am tossing up if I should get on the bandwagon...

How did Wallis play?

I didn't see today's game, but I loved Liberatore's awareness and teamwork with Wallis that goes back to their days at Calder. Bastards seem to know where the other one is all the time.
Wallis was alright. Had a very good 2nd quarter. Got subbed out three quarters of the way through the 3rd quarter.

They do have that uncanny ability to know where each other are. Will be great for us for the next decade.

Subbed out in the 3rd. Not sure of injury? He wasn't the Dogs worse by any means, still got a fair bit of the ball (17 disposals), so assuming he's fit next week he should be back with Liberatore in the middle.

What he does he's VERY good at it. He does not have absolute polish right now and its early days but he's been outstanding

Has responded in perfect fashion to his indiscretion last year. Knuckled down on the track over the pre-season and is reaping the rewards.
