Best I've seen the boys play in a long time!! But my heart sank when I saw that ball just skim off that DAMN post!

Congrats to the team for putting in such a great effort!!! I feel shattered but not dissapointed in the team.

P.S. Umpiring was sh*thouse!

Agreed,

Freo were Great tonight, i know what it feels like to lose the close ones, But your team were very very good tonight and had us on the backfoot for most of the game, I have always felt that freo Need to whack a few games like this together and get there confidance going, games like tonight show they have the players to do it, just need to rub a few games together. :thumbsu:

From my recollection of the game, Freo led by 39 points in the second quarter and by 25 points again at 3 quarter time after holding Geelong to buggar all in the 3rd quarter. They then let that lead evaporate within about 7 or 8 minutes in the last quarter.

Why did no-one from Freo stand up in that first 10 minutes of quarter 4? If Freo had held the lead at 3 goals or simply kicked one themselves (in that period) they would have won.

It was a good close result against a very good side but lets be honest, Freo should have been able to win from 25 points up at home at 3 quarter time against a Cats side playing at half rat power. The inability to find anyone to stand up or perhaps more importantly to collectively stand up at the start of the last quarter was pretty poor.

I understand that supporters were excited by such a "gutty" performance in an "unwinnable" game but at 3 quarter time, you had the game on toast.. and fell apart.

Look I am am gutted. Purely simply gutted. I am spent, devasted and tragically at a loss for words, but dealing with shi# like this makes me feel like getting abusive, but I will be composed.

Don't write crap on our board. I encourage all teams to give constructive words, we nearly topped off a 20+ run. Give something or fuc*k off.

D***head !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic performance. Unfortunately that 7 minute lapse in the 2nd term really hurt us. :(

Has McManus's career come to an end with one kick? He was okay tonight but to not make the distance from 30 metres late in the final term is shocking. We're one and five, if we start winning and his WAFL form is outstanding he should come back in but I definately think he shouldn't play next week.

Assuming Grover, Dodd and Hayden are okay for next week-
Out - McManus, Hinkley
In - Headland, Mayne/O'Brien

We played 2 and half Quarters of hard relentless football amd lost by apoint.

I always thought that once a side gets two in arow its a run on then everyone mans up??

THis slime suporter is correct the lead in the last Q after a magnificent Thrid Q
evaporued too easily.

Well you are right in one way, we should have won this game, the fact that it's Geelong we almost beat is making people more pleased. However we had 3 ppl injured in the last quarter, we were off our feet. I knew we were going to lose when I saw Hayden and Grover on the bench injured before the 4th began.

That said, had someone tagged the bastard Selwood earlier or Pav kicked true we would have won, so what do you do?

Save your vitriol until after your mob have been thrashed by the Doggies...troll

Was a fantastic effort be Freo. Its actually pretty difficult to figure out how they didnt win.

The tough part about being a freo fan right now, is you are likely very happy with your team, and probably feel like you should be celebrating and if you were currently 3 wins and 3 losses, you would take that loss on the chin, congratulate the team and move on, knowing that the players are all playing some good football. But you guys needed that win so bad that the close, competitive nature of the loss is a very poor consolation prize.

Feel sorry for you blokes, deserve to take some positives out of the game but its difficult to when your 1-5.

On a positive note, if you play like that for the rest of the season, you will be 17-5 at the end of it and probaly 2nd on ladder :thumbsu:

One of the most frustrating things as a Dockers supporter is seeing us play like we did tonight and remember back to the Richmond game.......

I always say supporting Freo is like being on a rollercoaster ride. I am now worried about next weeks game........we need to start stabilising our team and apart from possible injuries and suspensions we need to keep this team as is.

Was the timekeeper a Geelong supporter?? WE just cant have someone run 9 of the last 16 seconds off the clock on a freakin finger slip!!

No, I cant accept it. I've been watching this sloppy clock-keeping crap for years, looked like they had eliminated it last season.

Excellent game by the Dockers tonight. Found myself hoping you'd win for such a strong effort and hoping you wouldn't as it would putting my footy tipping on the back foot.

I thought Sandilands was bog with a fantastic ruck performance, not only in winning the hitouts but second and third efforts at ground level.

At least some positives to be taken from the game despite the loss.

Cheers.

Somehow I think he can. 2005 Semi Final loss against the Swans - it doesn't get much more gut wrenching than that.

We did man up for almost the entire game.
We just couldn't hit a forward target for large portions of the game and they couldn't miss theirs.
We played poorly for about 20 mins tonight... and you can't afford to do that against the undefeated reigning premiers.

6 rushed behinds to 1 came back to kick freo in the guts.

Freo deserved the win.

No its called smart footy, every single rushed behind tonight was the right move from the Dockers. Put it this way if we didnt rush those 6 behinds we would have lost be more than just 1 point.

Well not so much that NightFury, But i know what it feels like, having played in some, and watching Geelong go down to sydney in 2005 in the last 5 seconds, Off the boot of Nick Davis Made me lose all my hair ;).

but these are the kind of games that you lurn from and move on from and become a better team becuase of. ive noticed after Geelong lost that game to Sydney, we fight like Hell to never rush a behind anymore, which i think might become somthing Freo will look at.
