1. Melbourne
Jack Watts - The obvious pick of the bunch and if melbourne didnt choose jack, then serious questions have to be asked. As a bottom ager, achieved so much this year, with a huge slait of developement left in his game, his freakish athleticism and dead eye dick shot for goal has got melbourne fans licking there lips.

2. WCE
Nick Naitanui - I can see WCE taking the big fijian here, so they can play cox more as a forward once NicNat has developed as a ruckman. The freakishly athletic boy, once he pollishes up his skills and learns a bit about the game, we have something special on our hands.

3. Fremantle
Daniel Rich - I can't see freo passing on the local boy. His booming left boot and tough as nails attitude is what the freo fans want a peice of. I think all that steven hill talk is garbage, because to pass on this ready made player at 3, youd be silly.

4. Port Adelaide
Tyronne Vickery - Big Ty is one of chocco's favourites (inside word) and his last game for VicMet at telstra dome showed why he's one of the most exciting big prospects around. He displayed courage and a great set of hands that day, and i can see him as a round one forward for the power house next year.

5. Essendon
Michael Hurley - To replace the grandpa's in Fletcher and Michael, the dons would be super keen on snagging hurlz at 5. Easily a round 1 player of 09, and he could well be the next big thing in terms of key defenders. Showed why his the most wanted backmen in this years draft, doubling up on his all australian selection this year, with a right boot that could send a rocket into orbit.

6. Carlton
Jackson Trengrove - I think at the minute, carlton won't want to take ziebell, hartlett or sidebottom because they already have a talented midfeild, and they need to strengthen there backline, and this versatile freakshow can also play his stint in the ruck occasionally. Once he develops physically, i see him as a more versatile Michael hurley type player. Courageous and cheeky, i think ratten will love him.

7. Brisbane
Jack Ziebell - A possible third tall, hes as versatile as they come in terms of midfeilders. The body and maturity to start just about straight away, he will offer the lions the hardness and grunt they pride themselves on.

8. Richmond
Steele sidebottom - I can see it already. Cotchin, Foley, Sidebottom. His class and endurance is going to be something to watch over the next 15 years as he makes a name for himself in the yellow and black. Probably not a first round starter, but with a full pre season and some physical developing expect to see him make his promising debut next year

9. North Melbourne
Shaun McKernan - The big man is what the roos have been looking for over the last 4 years. Macintosh has failed IMO, and Hale not all he talked up to be, but Mckernan could be the answer to there ruck problems and push forward to snag a few.

10. Adelaide
Hamish Harteltt - The local boy will end up at the crows, and will give them the speed and class to get them through the next few seasons. Possible captain of the club in a few years, and its hard to see him slipping past 10.

11. Collingwood
Lewis Johnstone - Big lewwy will be the next tall target, or brick wall for the pies. They can decide. Capable of playing both ends of the ground, any other year he would easily be a top 10 pick. Him and clokey from the square. Something to look forward to

12. Sydney
Chris Yarran - Easily better than a few that have gone before him.. at his best. His in-consistency has slipped him this far, but the young x-factor will be the next dynamo up forward for sydney. A classy classy boy, with a bright future ahead

13. St.Kilda
Sam Blease - His pace and agility uis exactly what the saints want. Off a wing, half back, or even as an x-factor up forward, he has a lot of potential, and if he meets this, will be a champion running player in the near future.

14. WBD
Father son - Ayce cordy

15. Geelong
Nick suban - Geelong will want a grunt, skillful midfeilder/backmen for the near future when a few of there backmen move on. With an odl backline, they'll be looking to someone liek nick to fill the josh hunt, milburne type role.

16. Hawthorn
Stephen Hill - will offer the hawks, there trademark run and carry off half back wing positino. Him and hodgey running a muck in years to come, and his agility is something Grahame wright wont be able to say no to.

17. Melbourne
Tom swift - The injury struck superstar is capable of plenty.. and melbourne know that. They will take him in hope his knee comes right, and he can be the class act of the midfeild they've been searching for over the last few years, and can push forward and kick goals.

18. WCE
David Zaharakis - His leg speed and skill will suit a ground liek Subiaco. A lot of people have labelled him in and under, but i see none of that. But its no offence. He is one of the classiest outsiders in this years draft, and will fit in nicely at the weagles.

19. Melbourne
Luke Shuey - May suprise a few, but i believe he is going to be a very good player at the AFL level. With a ready made body, his grunt and work rate is what melbourne need. With jones, mclean, swift, sylvia, and now shuey, they have a mix of class and grunt in there engine room to come good in the near future.

20. WCE
Jordan Lisle - The big man, is what WCE would love. Might not last untill here, but if he does, WCE will snap him without a doubt. Can play both ends of the ground and will offer that gun back or gun forward role the eagles lack occasionally.

11. Collingwood
Lewis Johnstone - Big lewwy will be the next tall target, or brick wall for the pies. They can decide. Capable of playing both ends of the ground, any other year he would easily be a top 10 pick. Him and clokey from the square. Something to look forward to

Hine like Suprise Pick and If Lewwy Get's there then Just Maybe

and

Put it in the Phantom Draft Forum

Thankyou so much for having yarren at sydney. He is my prime choice and i want him really badly!

At the moment North Melbourne's strength is their taller players, and our midfield is pretty poor for a team in contention to play finals. I don't think we'll take McKernan ahead of a midfielder.

Pretty harsh on Hamish McIntosh there. The Roos are probably the least likely of any club to take a ruckman in the first round since they already have McIntosh, Hale, Petrie and Goldstein.

And the Eagles won't take a tall with pick 20 if we take Naitanui. Our midfield is the biggest problem at the moment.

Otherwise pretty reasonable.

The Eagles have ageing key defenders and questionable key forwards. If they see someone they like in the tall division, they'd be mad not to take him. Hence why they'll probably take Nat while they have Cox. You don't pass up on talent to fill a need.

There is a lot of tall talent in this draft. I don't think there's a club in the league that can afford to pass on a tall if the right player's available at their pick.

Wilkes, MacKenzie, Spangher, Schofield and M.Brown could all play KPD. Wilson is a rookie who also could. Glass and Hunter are 27, not 29-30, so they have at least 2 good years. Staker can play KPD at a pinch.

It's rare to play more than 2 tall KPD's in the modern game.

Notte, Kennedy and Mitch Brown look more than capable as developing forwards, with McKinley an ideal 3rd tall.

Whilst I do understand what you're saying, it's our midfield that needs the most attention, closely followed by small forwards and some skillfull and line breaking flankers.

Before you say that Kennedy, Notte, MacKenzie etc are not proven, remember that adding more unproven players doesnt solve anything.

In my opion, we'd be unlikely to take any more than one tall this year, especially when our midfield could do with some further topping up, even if we took Masten, Ebert and Selwood last year.

If WC think they've found a gun key forward, they're not going to say, 'we've got Josh Kennedy and Tony Notte - let's just leave him'. I agree that Lisle is unlikely there, and I agree that WC's greatest need is running players. Thing is, there's no guarantee that all things will be equal. If, say, Lewis Johnson was there at 18, I'd think WC would grab him quickly before giving Melbourne (another) chance at him. However, if, say Johnson and Swift were both there, they'd have to think a bit. I have a lot of respect for WC's recruiting dept. Whatever they decide to do, I won't be ripping them here for it.

My point was that teams pick players first and positions second. If you get too many KPPs you can always just turn them into mids and kick our butts the way you did with Staker and Lynch anyway ;)

You have no idea.

If Mitch Robinson is still available at 18 and we dont take him i will be pissed. I think with 18 and 20 we will take two midfielders/smalls but you never know, best available at all times is my theory :thumbsu:

Luke Shuey:

Luke Shuey:

Geez this kid impresses me.. i've said it on here numerous times, but i love the way he plays! I know there the best of his best but still, its bloody impressive

P.S - i tried getting his video highlights on here, but didnt work

Yeah your mock was better...

whats wrong with that anyway?

Reid, Dawes, Cloke, etc. I don't know everything about the Pies, but they will be stupid to go tall with their first pick when better midfielders are available considering they lost Burns.

But that's possibly what Schofield and Spangher will be used as anyway.

I just think an over emphasis on talls will not serve us well in the long run.

I would rather Hartlett over anyone in the draft excluding big 3 so ill be stoked if he slides. Wont happen though

I can see the swans passing on Yarran because they took a similiar player last year in Vesprimi with their first pick. But I can also see The Kangaroos taking a Yarran with their pick.

A real win for St Kilda fans would be a Yarran or Trengrove. Trengrove could really slide in this draft after that nasty injury he suffered this year in june.

Saints need a Fast midfeilder/medium forward flanker and a KP defender. Both Yarran and Trengrove fit our wish list. I think at least one of those 2 will slide to #13 as most mock drafts I have seen have both players outside the top 10.

I would be very, very happy with Watts and Swift, Would probably prefer Robinson than Shuey but i wouldn't really mind. I'm sure Shuey would be happy considering he's a melbourne supporter.:thumbsu:

Demons will do very well out of this draft.

Dees have a solid Backline for mine and young too with Warnock, Garland, Frawley, Rivers and Martin. Rucks with Jamar, Johnson and Martin.

Young midfeilders like Bate, Bartram, Silvia, Morton, Grimes, McLean and Buckley.

Throw Watts in as a key forward wit Aussie and Maric crumbing.

With good picks after Watts the Dees can select Utility/Midfeilders/Medium Forwards like Robinson, Blease, Swift, Heyne, Shuey, Shoenmakers etc........

Next year Melbourne will get more top picks for sure and they probably take the best KPF in the draft to give teams headaches much like Buddy and Roughy. And with other picks they can sure up a young ruckman and clever dashing back flanker to be a formidable side in years to come. I think Melbourne are ahead of Essendon in Development.

Don't forget Jonesy and Petterd.:D

At present, I have Melbourne taking Watts, Hill, Strauss, Roughead and Mitch Brown.

Although I am sure I will move players around and my final phantom will probably not include any more than 2 of these players going to Melbourne, one would think they'd be very happy with the above group. A potential star KPF, an electric hb/wingman, a classy on-baller, ruckman/forward and another forward in Brown.

19. North Melbourne
Shaun McKernan - The big man is what the roos have been looking for over the last 4 years. Macintosh has failed IMO, and Hale not all he talked up to be, but Mckernan could be the answer to there ruck problems and push forward to snag a few.
You people never cease to amaze me.

.

Absolutely hilarious.

Ruck problems?

2 of our ruckman were in the AA squads in the last 2 years, and Hale bagged 8 againt Geelong, but we need one to go forward that can kick goals?

LOL

We have the best rucks in the league, with our youngest probably going to be the best of the lot!

See that flying past? That's your credibility.

North has ruck problems?:D
