I said the “dream”. Didn’t say it was a likely outcome. It you could clearly see how it is in the realm of possibilities.

The media has intimated that finals may be played interstate in front of fans as well which could see West Coast get play at home for an away game.

Not particularly worried if we had to play West Coast over there as we would win imo and tbh any outcome for us in this final series is a win based on our projected finish at the start of the year and where our list is at the moment. The top 6 playing their best on the day can all beat each other so it will be interesting. Funny part about the Bombers and Swans game at the G a couple of weeks ago was although a great game and fairly high standard I don't think either side played their best on the day which would make a rematch very interesting. Having said that I think Essendon's work rate and effort on the day was better than Swans.

The fact that we are still 7th is very amusing to me. No matter how sh*t we play we cannot be moved.
Richmond and West Coast are separated only by Josh Kennedy's late snap.
Without that we swap ladder positions.

Yeah I don’t know. I’m a little pissed about the whole thing.

I’m of the opinion that Essendon would have won at least one of the GWS or Sydney games if we weren’t forced to hub in the Gold Coast for 3 rounds. Which turned out was of no real benefit to anyone as the families had to do two weeks iso in Queensland that they easily could have done in Melbourne.

That being said I’m rooting for GWS to make the 8. They’ve clearly been the 8th best side this year when you take into account the travel they’ve had to do.

I am only going on the pretext that the Swans are in Melbourne and if they want to reward the highest placed side as they will do with the likely top 4 then Swans would want GMHBA. Damn sure it would not be played in Perth if Swans were to play Eagles.

It would kind of amusing after all of Geelongs recent requests to play finals at Skilled, Sydney actually get to.

I don’t think brisbane want to lose against eagles in R23 in order to play them again. That is so risky, could build confidence for eagles and we need all the form we can get.

I assume lions go all out and don’t rest players even if nothing is to play for.

I haven’t checked exactly but wouldn’t it be crazy if the 3 of the 4 games were repeats of R23. Port/Dogs Melb/Geel and Bris/WC

You may do this year things being what they are. Top 4 should still be awarded home finals if possible. Having said that the old chestnut remains. Is it home ground final or home state. The AFL Have always been to gutless to put this to bed. My own opinion is it should be home ground. Swans finish 6th and play 7th based in Melbourne like they should have pick of venue. Why wouldn't they pick GMHBA if it was available. Especially against the Eagles.

Lions are half a chance to make top 4 if they beat both Magpies and Eagles. All it needs is one team in the top 4 to lose this week and then back it up with a loss in their top 4 clash next week.

R22- Port Adelaide v Carlton
R22- Bulldogs- Hawthorn
R23- Bulldogs v Port Adelaide

R22- Melbourne v Adelaide
R22- Geelong v St Kilda
R23- Geelong v Melbourne

The most likely scenario to get the Lions into the four would be for Geelong to lose to the Saints and Dees in my opinion

Your % is too far back from the dogs. Carlton have checked out and put players out for surgery, Port wont lose. Geelong is definetly your only hope, but they would have to drop 3 in a row in Geelong for that to happen. That Blicavs non free is pretty costly right now, 8 point turnaround.

But then you could argue the Cameron not payed (20m) mark in Sydney is costly for Geelong.

So Essendon are reliant on Freo to beat West Coast or Carlton to beat GWS.... Yeah unlikely given they have finals to play for.

Bombers should make it as long as you win your last 2 which you should do. West coast might beat freo this week but they aren’t beating the lions away.

The Lions may not be able to move on the ladder though and if they scrap the bye they might decide to rest players, certainly won’t be going flat out I wouldn’t think.

'Should' being the operative word. Never underestimate the power of Essington.

Geelong to drop out of top 4

Yikes!

They will get a home final. I don't mind this but I am hoping the Bloods play the Giants at the Litterbox.

Doesn't matter if we drop both games. You aren't catching us and the Bulldogs % is too big

Port or Geelong are your only chances

Although Brisbane will be able to pick their opponent for the first week of finals. Win and they play bombers (or if we fall over - whoever is left), if they loose they get GWS. After last night I doubt they want to play GWS.
