Top Spin 3

Just thought I'd let you guys know, the Online World Tour update has been added for Top Spin 3 on the PS3.

Change the difficulty level, start on very easy if need be to get a grip on the different strokes you can hit the ball (ie: work on timing your shots). Once you get the hang of it, you should be fine as you build up your stats you don't have to adjust your timing too much. If anything the shots are more refined and easier to outfoot your opponent - my backhand slice is a winner 99% of the time :thumbsu: (assuming i hit it on the right angle).

It starts off hard, but gets easier the more you play. I've only lost 3 matches so far (first match in amatuer, one match in junior and my first pro match at the Aussie Open.... not my fault i ran into Roger Federer first round :p), built up my stats to have an overall rating of 60.... and i have about 100 more points to use (once i build up enough experience points to use them).

The game won't get too much faster for you... well not from what i have seen - all of the courts play at about the same pace of playing on a clay court (understandable due to the new game physics).

I only struggle when the cpu comes to the net, my player moves too slow and doesnt have quick enough reflexes to react to how fast net shots are.

The first Top Spin was very easy and boring (even on hard difficulty) right throughout the whole game, is this any different?

There is a learning curve, but i would say that once you master the shots and get the timing right.... it will be a walk in the part for you against the cpu even on the hardest difficulty level. Playing against your friends or online, would be more fun and possibly more of a challenge (if you're at the same skill level).

It won't ALWAYS be easy, sometimes i go through the game without making any unforced errors, but if your timing is even in the slightest bit off... your shot (even bubsy standard ones.... let alone the 'risk' shots) will go too far wide, or sail into the net. I've had a few games that i've almost lost due to hitting 8-11 unforced errors in the game

Ah, okay. The new timing system sounds like it makes the game a bit more difficult which is good.

It could happen, but the slowdown lag i got when playing some overseas people in Top Spin 2.... wasn't as evident in Top Spin 3. It does make you think about not taking as many risks with more powerful shots.

Inlaggy games in TS 2, i'd get pause, serve starts, pause, pause, pause, serve continues, pause, pause, serve continues, pause, pause, serve complete, ball heads to opposing player, pause, pause, ball gets to opposing player, pause pause, player swings, pause, ball connects and heads back to me, pause etc.

In Top Spin 3, the lag i've had has not been as severe as that... quite minimal - almost as though it was a locally hosted game (but it wasn't).

It could suck pretty bad online though, if you get any lag you're stuffed.
Actually it is done really well to combat lag, the game pauses after taking a shot, but it won't stuff you up, I have played about 15-20 games so far online and not once has lagged screwed me over.

Yeah that seems to be the way with me, although I am still a Junior in Career mode, 8 out of 10 times I go for a drop shot it hits the net.

I got it on Wii just to see what it was like, it's sort of fun in a way, but the graphics let it down.

I'm thinking about getting it on ps3 too, is it worth it?
Go and rent it..

I just rented mine and will make a decision to buy it on that.

Lucky i rented Fifa 08 yesterday because that is so boring:thumbsd:

In comparison to Virtua Tennis, what's it like?
10 times better, Virtua Tennis is one of those pick up and play, but only play for a week sort of game, plus it is easy as shit, not to mention there is no online.

Top Spin 3 has a steep learning curve, online which has hardly any lag, and the game is a ton more realistic too.

Yeah i definately echo HBK's opinion on this one.

Realistic game, very technical.

I think I'll get some decent mileage out of this one, especially as I feel like I get better and better the more i play it.

Oh and HBK, I'm keen for a rematch! :p
