Thought Grant might end up getting that second year after we floated him in a trade just as good will. Great news though, Grant and Crameri and even Stringer should be matchup nightmares.

Pretty much just need to wrap up the Crameri deal one way or another and maybe trade for a cheap guy like Darley and we have had a quiet yet solid exchange period.

Yeah that's true. I've got North making top 4 next year. It's a big step to say someone that didn't even make the 8 one year go on and make top 4 the next, but they "should" have made the 8 easily. Another pre season into the young boys, limited departures and possibly a couple of handy pick ups should see them make it if injuries are favorable

North won't make the top 4 until their band of so called talented young superstars actually do become elite.

Like this thinking. I just watched grants highlights on the dogs website, I didn't realise how often he and Campbell combined in the eagles and Sydney games. Seemed to work really well together with grant feeding off Campbell's contest. Would be great to see these too blossom together in the forward line next year.

I wouldn't necessarily say that Grant does his best work closer to goal. He's good at getting the ball inside 50, or being on the 50 arc and causing a bit of mayhem.

But I do like this sort of thinking, and I reckon it might be close to what the club is thinking as well.

We won't be giving up anything massive. GWS won't use a pick past 30, so we might either swap a player with them (I have a feeling Wood might be what they want) but they'd have to give a pick back, too. The other scenario would just be a good will trade between us.

Darley has some good traits, asked a few guys in the offices up here that are out at Skoda regularly for work (thank god I don't have to head out that way!) and they said he's a pretty solid all rounder. Doesn't have any outstanding features to his game, but is apparently one of the better trainers at the club. Pretty brave as well, got in the way of Setanta in a drill and by all reports, you could hear the crunch from the other side of the oval. Another mate who does some of the media work in the office said he's a good speaker, too. Did an interview with him and Jeremy Cameron and said Darley was the better of the two.

I do not like this trade. I have not seen Darley play so I am just basing it on what I have read on BF (maybe a job in journalism beckons) but I do not see how this trade benefits us greatly. Swapping one reasonable performer for another who may or may not improve on that rating.

A swap of fourth rounders I could live with. I would like to get Darley but not at the expense of hurting the fabric of the club which this might do if the message to the players is yes you are one of us but we are happy to move you out even for like for like.

We all know that BMac are building a team with the Geelong Model in mind here is an Incomplete team list comparing the Successful (Not that they ain't finished) era of the Cats to the Rebuilding Bulldogs of Today

I understand that some players are not even close to the Geelong guys but I'm baseing this on traits/Style of Player

I recall he had his first hip operated on when he first got to the club [ or there abouts]. And
as I recall the club said at the time, that the other hip would require surgery at some point in time.

Where does Crameri fit into your geelong team comparison?
I think we are looking at Dahlhaus higher up the field and using a Crameri is a HFF. I see our biggest weaknesses further up the field, like a good half-back flanker. BUT I am not hoping we get Scharenberg, as this player should not be a top 5 draft pick. Give me Aish, Kelly, Boyd instead.

Agree totally throw in a resting ruck (Campbell/Brown) and a small forward (if we get Crameri in the PSD I'd go for James Sicily at 22, if not then a guy like Brady Grey at 56) and It will be quite the potent forward line.

A bit too tall for me. It's very dynamic I agree but I'm just not sure it'll work. From my perspective this is a perfect setup in the present:

Grant Jones Crameri
Dahlhaus Campbell Hunter

Then you rotate through players like Dickson and Stringer and have Gia as the sub (at least until he's pushed out).

In the future Dahlhaus and Hunter will spend most of their time in the midfield so we need some other guys to rotate through here; Hrovat and Prudden could be two but I'd like to target another with genuine pace late-draft (Jarrod Stokes has been my man for a while now). Also need a Campbell replacement as he'll be a #1 ruck once Will moves on. Brown's a nice option.
