Mason Wood wouldn't be a bad get. I have a feeling he'd come with a large existing price though.

My take with Cavara is that he was a small mid who turned himself into a small forward to get drafted. Did a great job to make it and is a handy forward but doesn't have the same skills or natural forward instincts that the best small forwards do.
I feel like for him to make it he needs to become an extremely high pressure player who perhaps then allows us to play the 3 talls and Lloyd who is not great at applying pressure.

We need to add more than just Bruce and Keath. It’s a fantastic start but we need a couple of more moneyball trades in addition. Let’s not forget the importance of Duryea, Lloyd and Crozier.

Would like to add another player using a late 40s/50s pick that can slot into this team. I mentioned Mason Wood but surely there are others as well. Maybe Schofield (I understand he’s a free agent) could do a shut down KPD job for 2 years. Anyone from Adelaide that could be pried out?

I say we just need to worry about actually getting Bruce, then Keath. I'm not concerned at all with whatever comes after that at this stage until the above gets done.

I know he was hampered by injury all year but he seems like a good vfl player...

How do we see Trengove fitting in next year? Back up ruck?

I just can’t see us winning a flag with him as a key defender.

I think the problem with both Trengrove and Cordy is that neither of them provide much intercept or rebound ability which means they need to be exceptional stoppers to earn their spot.
Cordy is quite agile and has good reflexes at ground level but is not strong or tall enough to defend the high ball. Trengrove can defend the high ball but can be exposed when the ball hits the deck.
I think next year might be a bit of a horses for courses season for the two of them depending opposition forward lines. Young is probably a better long term option than either although still has a bit of development to go.
Cordy can potentially play as a 3rd tall defender but I don't think we want to have many players in our backline who can't rebound confidently so prefer to go a bit shorter with wood, durea and crozier.

Cavarra has been on our list only one year. Having seen a bit of him at VFL level I have my doubts that he can make the transition to AFL. He's not big or strong enough as a midfielder and doesn't exert much pressure as a small forward. This is not to write him off, however, because he did have a few injuries this season and couldn't get much continuity. His strength is his reliable kicking which is handy but I think we would need to see a big improvement if he is to challenge for selection. Doesn't cost us anything having him on our list for one more season.

Really smart by West Coast I reckon. They are in the window now and need to make the most of it. Midfield class and polish the weak link. With Kennedy and Hurn getting on they have got one or two years to get a flag before they slip down the ladder

Using the points calculator (I know it's not a perfect way of doing it, but it's a guide) and conservatively guessing finishing positions of 4th for WCE and 6th for Geelong in 2020, the trade is valued at 3126 points for Geelong - slightly over pick 1. The higher West Coast finish the better value he becomes.

Good deal for the Eagles in my opinion. Gives them another shot at a flag next year and minimum 5 years of Kelly who is a star.

thatd be really confusing - he'd clearly be put into forward rotation at essendon which is the whole reason hed leave port

True. Kelly is a star though. Goal kicking mids dont grow on trees. A midfield of Kelly, Shuey, Yeo, Gaff, Sheed and Redden is pretty scary with a fit Nicnat. They may as well go hard - window is well open
