Keath is being undervalued a bit here. Gonna cost more than a second rounder and I don’t think Bailey Williams has that much value right now unfortunately.

Any more than $800k for Hill and I hope we walk away. Adding a good key defender is my first priority. Another avenue to goal would be second.
I honestly don't think Keath would cost more than a 2nd rounder, he's 28 before the start of next season, has played less than 30 games, and is relying on a single season worth of form to value him.

Bailey Williams will speculatively be worth a pick in the 30's or 40's. Would likely need to attach something to him (like Pick 46) in the event of a swap for Keath.

Doesn't start until next year. They've said you can, so lon as you use two in a 4yr period from my understanding.

Yes you have to use 2 firsts in a 4 year period but they aren’t strict on it.

But if you trade an 2020 first rounder you cannot trade another 2020 pick. If you keep your 2020 first you can trade 2020 second/third/fourth but if you trade your first you can’t trade any other future pick from the same year

Have to give something up to get something in return. If Bailey wants to go back ,it only makes sense to use him to towards satisfying the Crows.
A KPD is a definite hole in our side

What's the thinking about B Lynch?

One of life’s great mysteries. No idea what’s happened to him, he was putting in better performances last year at AFL level than this year in the VFL. He’s contracted till next year and I’d expect him to see that out but unless we see serious improvement before then he hasn’t got a chance of making it with us or any other AFL club.

Who would do a Keath for Williams trade? Keath is 27, Williams 21.

I think Williams will have the better career and have no doubt Williams will provide many more good games than Keath will over the next 10 years (perhaps not necessarily over the next 2 years) but do we need a KPD so badly that we are prepared to sacrifice a better player to get one?

Doesn't this make a mockery of the best available drafting philosophy?
Nah. Drafting for best available policy usually involves trading for needs, as per your scenario . Get the best kids you can every draft and use trading to deal with list balance issues is the basic idea.

The problem is drafting best available is the best outcome for drafting but not the list. Its too simplistic.

Is Rhylee West a legit potential small forward?? Or do we still need to go to market and land one (tippa, butler)??

The very small sample I have seen , not sure he is fronk.
But if he can keep his spot for the rest of the year it will tell us a lot.
Pretty happy with I have seen so far .

Rhylee could potentially be a Clay Smith type of small forward, but I still think we'd want someone with a bit of x-factor rather than relying on grunt.

I'm honestly not worried if we miss out on one through the trade period - one of Elijah Taylor or Cody Weightman should be available at one of our picks, and it wouldn't surprise me to see either of them debut quite early

Some easy moves this off season.

Trade
Wallis
Roberts
Pick 8(if thats our first)

Martin-Gold coast

then trade
Williams direct swap for Keith

Trade our first pick 2020 for pick 10? so we dont have to use on Hugga

Get in Smith -Hawthorn

JJ Trengrove Crozier

Daniel Keith Richards

Smith Dunkley Hunter

Martin Schache B.Smith

Loyd Naughton Dale

English Macca Bonti

Libba
Lipinski
McLean
l.Young

I love him as a small forward. I can't see any spots opening up in our midfield until Libba slows down so I reckon Rhylee is an ideal pressure forward for a few years.

I do remember Bevo saying early in the year that West's AFL career will most likely start out as a forward.

I think Bevo likes to start players out as forwards (Mclean, Dunkley) until their bodies are ready for midfield. Smith being an exception because he's ridiculously good for his age. As a side note I can't wait to see what Smith can do next year if he gets a full preseason in.

Don't think so in the same way that Dahlhaus isn't a small forward. They are an eerily similar player. Small, strong, quick with elite pressure and great hands and tenacity mixed with poorish foot skills and size to be an elite mid.

Players that are missing on that list
Father-Son Josh Kellett- Half back 178cm, clean ball movement

NGA Prospect
Cody Raak- 183cm Ulitly, returned mid-season after injuries, played as CHF and CHB before now being played as a primary midfield

Craig Cooper-Peters: Ball magnet for Rebels, been playing as a small forward by Bulldogs request the last couple of weeks.

Prospects of being picked up?

Look at expected goal stats. We miss many easy shots compared to other teams. There was an article about that on afl.com.au recently.
Hmmm do we kick at goals at these goalposts? it's no wonder we're so bad at goalkicking, they're moving!!! You were not talking about expected score (although it is a good stat). I could not find the article you speak of....

Sorry but you made some outlandish statements and were proven false, doubling down isn't ideal. On a board where misinformation is promulgated so regularly I think we should try to reduce it where we can.

I worry how much a small will cost us in the trade period. Tippa and Papley are the better two on the market, but both would have pretty big price tags. Butler would come cheap, but not exactly an exciting pick up (unless he came really cheap). I'm really keen to pick one up early in the draft, and use our currency during the trade period on some decent talls and outside runners (which take longer to develop in AFL)

Who’s the best small forward likely available at our pick?
