Putting aside the injury risk which has robbed him of consistency its the lack of footy smarts strikes a cord with me. Massive culprit of giving away silly frees, 50s etc... I could accept that if he did damage with the possessions he gets but too often his 5-6 touches are completely invisible.
Agree consistency of games aside due to injury his leg speed (his greatest asset) is not matched by brain speed which ultimately slows him down imo. Just feel the pressure will come on this season by West, Garcia and Mclean and maybe McNeil as well as a couple of the new draftees who might surprise earlier than we think.

Vandermeer cops so much unnecessary stick on this forum. Can only be recency bias, he had a not great (but not even that bad either) run to finish the year but any suggestion of him being delisted seems insane to me.
If he's only going to get 5 touches a game they need to be very special. A number of games this year he gave a sum negative impact all told.

But happy to give him the benefit of the doubt and hope he turns it around. He needs to figure out his role and talents and then use them.

Gee our forward line is going to be scary with Naughty, Jamarra, Darce with Cody & Clarkey at their feet

Never thought I’d say that as a dogs supporter 😂
It’s potentially unmatched tbh (potentially is the key word I guess) and we should see some of its early peak coincide with the ‘late peak’ of our midfield hopefully. Maybe that’s the plan for defence after all, kick more goals than the opposition… don’t hate the idea…

There are two elements to it personnel and system

We definitely have the personnel

It's a great time to be a Bulldogs supporter! I'm feeling very optimistic about the next few years.

See Raak as a different player to Khamis and Cleary. Both of these guys are 190cm and Cleary is very light - more Easton Wood and Bob Murphy types. Please let’s not try Hannan there every again - the player has to be an excellent mark and reader of the play/quarterback style and that’s not him.

Raak is more likely to fill the third tall role who can play talls and smalls. More a taller Morris or a Grimes role - something we have not been able to address. Last year we went with Parker, TOB and Raak for that role.

Parker is gone and TOB - who should be that person didn’t perform (does anyone know why? He has talent). All are 193 - TOB is 93kgs - big fella and Raak is 83 but will get to 90kgs.

The key ingredient for this role is fierce determination - opposing players must hate playing on them. TOB didn’t show this and Raak did but only in patches.
Raak 193cm

Raak needs a fair amount of development time, off-season photos showed he’s really skinny. He’s got some ability and aggro.
For some reason I thought he’d been on the list 2 years already, maybe because he was picked up as an over-ager.

Am I right in thinking that as a category B rookie he doesn’t actually take a list spot opportunity from someone else (unless we have 3 alternative category B rookies)? If that’s the case then he 100% stays another 2 years.
