Sounds like a young Dangerfield. It was his biggest knock on him at the beginning of his career.
I think there’s a few more differences between young Danger at 24yo Oskar Baker tbf 😂

Big do not want for mine, we’ve got to stop thinking we can play trashy ball users on the wings and flanks, would be a wasted list spot

Yeah
I’d rather something like a small forward, key defender or a ruck developing
Midfielders usually tend to show something by their mid twenties, in fact they should be peaking

Currently rehabbing from a 2nd ACL rupture.....nahhhhhh thanks.
If we rookie a ruck, i what one that's not an injury risk. Not another year of injuried ruck like Stef Martin.

We now have a really good and possibly league leading 1-2 Ruck Forward set up

Odds are English misses 6 to 8 games per year and we need a solid back up solution.

If Sweet (Bevo….. “he isn’t ready”) is the back up it isnt right, we need to look at least to VFL WAFL SANFL best bet to back up as 3rd choice if we are a flag chance (which we are)

He is quick and hard.

Can’t hit a leading target or a stationary target by foot. Kicks float rather than travel. Doesn’t slow down to deliver the ball. Handballs are not accurate either.

For a outside, he is surprisingly good at hardball gets. That isn’t suppose to be your best football attribute when you play outside.

He won’t be on our team. No need to discuss further.

Why doesn’t someone play him as a quick inside mid?

Forgot Baker is 24. Dangerfield's earliest games was all run and kicking the ball in a general direction. They had to teach him how to slow down and kick to a target. I think Baker can learn that as well but he's not going to be anything like Dangerfield. Another thing that helped Dangerfield was he put on a lot of muscle to play that inside mid role which would of made him heavier and slower helping his training.

TBH I hope we are looking at Tom Phillips as a Lachie Hunter replacement. I rate him as a decent role player and a true winger unlike Truck. I also hope we draft 2 mids/outside who have pace like Darcy Jones, Hollands or I like the look of Hewett! Though with 2 first rounds in next years string draft we will probably take best available for 11 and 21 and 39 will be needs

Phillips is a very outside player, not much for the contact or contested side of the game.

Peak offseason. Delisted Oskar Baker compared to Dangerfield.

Lol I wasn't really comparing him. I was noting that Dangerfield had the same deficiency in his game. I was more saying it's something that can be corrected.
How many AFL players significantly improve their field kicking after age 24?
Danger's kicking issues are overblown.

How many inside mids are actually good disposers of the ball by foot. Answer...Not many
Most are good handballers but not great kicks.

Even then, their disposal often suffers due to having to constantly dispose of the ball under pressure.
IIRC Matty Boyd's DE spiked when he was shifted from mid to defence.

Probably a bit of a combination of both - gun mids even who are considered to be good by foot often have absurdly low DE.

Danger does have his issues though, but much of that is game style. Man was and to some extent still is a bull.

WESTERN BULLDOGS

As things stand, it won’t be an enviable 2024 for list manager Sam Power and the powers that be at Whitten Oval. They’ll have to figure out how to keep all of Aaron Naughton, Bailey Smith, Jamarra Ugle-Hagan and Tim English, the latter of whom is a restricted free agent. If all four of those names continue developing like they are, they are going to be some of the most sought-after players in the game. It’s a tough balancing act, albeit a good problem to have. Jason Johannisen will be an unrestricted free agent but looks set to finish his career at the Dogs despite trade talks this off-season.
