Saw this in today’s herald sun can’t wait for the opposition salty tears been very lucky

Jordan Croft (Calder Cannons) – A 199cm key forward who kicked three goals on two separate occasions in the NAB League this year. A father-son prospect for Western Bulldogs, as the son of Matthew Croft who played 186 games for the Bulldogs between 1991 and 2004. Part of the Vic Metro squad for 2023.

How about someone taps him on the shoulder and suggests he shadow Alex Keath

You’d think this is likely to happen if we draft him. Unless he’s too incredible forward in that case we may just have to assemble the tallest forward line ever.

The way we're tracking with f/s atm, Caleb Daniel's kids will all be 200cm+ monsters too, and in 20-odd years we'll all be decrying our lack of mids, while we have 15 first-choice KPFs.

Zimmerman and dieticians need to adjust the food plans down there.

Will be interesting if Croft has a big season and bounces up the boards like Darcy did. We will be faced with a dilemma of whether to give up draft assets to get him, in a position we are now loaded in, or pass?

Personally, as long as we don't have to piss away a lot of picks on him. I'd be alright with another tall forward. Naughton, Jamarra, Darcy look set to lead for the next decade. But there is no reason why you cannot have a couple of talls in the VFL. Depth is gold these days. Would rather see AFL listed KPP players in our VFL ranks than VFL signed gap fillers. At least if one of our talls goes down with a long term injury, we have another option without having to deviate away from our structure which will be based on three tall forwards.

It’s such an advantage with the points system that if he was to rise fairly high I don’t think you can pass up the opportunity - you’d just hope we can find a great target with the two first rounders to trade for first and then cash in on Croft with late picks again.

I don’t think you can have enough talls anyway, you’ll get a premium for them in a trade and if we really were in the position that we were that stacked up forward you can always just move Naughty back and get a gun defender too

When I think of the lengths Rocket went to get a key full forward, and just couldn’t shake one out, until we got BBB, by then the ship had sailed.

With Keath, Jones, Bruce and Lobb all the wrong side of 30 we need more young KPPs anyway.

The only ones we have under 30 are English, Naughton, Marra, Darcy, Gardner and Busslinger. High on quality, but low on depth. And I’m not sold on Busslinger as a genuine KPD. Hopefully Crofty does a Harris Andrews and shows a bit as a KPD and grows another inch or so.

If Croft is actually 199cm I don’t think he needs to grow any more. Plenty tall enough to be a genuine KPP.

Right now he’s not projected to be an early pick but if he really comes on then having the 2 first rounders really helps with flexibility, potentially even trading up to get a pick in before a bid.

You’d think he’ll get over 2m if he’s already 199. And Mitchell is supposedly even taller…
(Give volleyball the flick)

If he does really come on AND we have a better year than Brisbane, it’s going to be really tense and interesting come their pick .(I know we have their first round pick but after that)

Shai Bolton Re-signs with Richmond for another 5 years what a star he has become
Crazy to think hes only going to get better

I remember his goal on the boundary against us
I didn't even bother to look if it went in, just knew the star factor sealed it

Brisbane’s first selection is Geelong’s 2R. We will either have 2 or 3 picks before that unless they trade into earlier picks so not too worried about their spite.

Am all for adding Poulter and Broen if they are the best available. Also happy to wait to mid season and work out what we need and who do the kids have developed.

Right now the advantage is that it is not a draft - we can just offer them a deal.

The disadvantage is that they have both come from a contending team than needs players in their positions (inside mid and wing) and a very good coach that I don’t see as a polarising type (like say a Malthouse or Lyon). So what is it about them that indicates they will do better - what they proven is that they can’t make it in one team - in some ways that is worse than an unproven player that missed out like Mitch Szybkowski or the other ruck Essendon are trialing.

Same could be said for Oskar Baker but he is sitting behind an all Australian on one wing and a solid James Jordan on the other. Not great but better and falls for the most successful third wheel (behind two good players that are best 22) or the glory player (leaving for a premiership like Lake or Isaac Smith).

I am a glass half full person and back the recruiters to know more than me - so will back them in if selected.
