Bergman ?Problem is there's not many options for a wingman or fast inside mid. Options are Gresham, McIntosh & Neal-Bullen.

If you want to get pick 1 off WC they’d be asking for NaughtonIf an interstate club like WC finish last I’d be throwing multiple first rounders at them for pick 1 and nab Harley Reid. Kid is going to be unstoppable. And would jump straight into our midfield rotations and be the key player in our future midfield rebuild - absolute bull.

Who would trade 3 first rounders for Reid 2 this year and 1 next year , I say let's do it

I mean FA's. More likely to target a out of contract winger.Bergman ?
Whenever I see LOL or the appropriate imoj, I know I am dealing with an idiot."The next Andrew McLeod!"

Don't really see much outside talent that we'd consider in this years' FA crop as a mid.I mean FA's. More likely to target a out of contract winger.
Fiorini is a slow big bodied inside midDon't really see much outside talent that we'd consider in this years' FA crop as a mid.

Fiorini is decent but can he play full time outside?
I'd still target Bergmann. We could take him for a first rounder + change and still take our second first round pick to draft
So was Mitch Robinson.Fiorini is a slow big bodied inside mid
Our cap will be super tight so unless someone does a Dunkley and wants too much, I’d say that next year will be quiet and it’ll be draft to save coin . Keen to see more of Kelllet in VFL, looks a very good ball user
We may not hang on to everyone either - Bailey Williams as a FA could appeal to a SA club keen to bolster a wing spot.im pretty sure we have a bit of room to move after losing Hunter and Dunkley both around 700k mark
I'd have thought the opposite. Moving Hunter and Dunkley out would be saving huge coin, and Schache wouldn't have been on a minimumOur cap will be super tight so unless someone does a Dunkley and wants too much, I’d say that next year will be quiet and it’ll be draft to save coin . JJs big contract heavily reduced last year too, and I believe this might be last year for both Keath and Bruce from memory who would be on pretty large contracts when we brought them over and will both (Bruce especially) likely be on heavily reduced contracts next year.Martin & Wallis too
I don't think there's much contract increase to worry about with Naughts. Isn't he in the top 3 or 4 guys getting paid at the club (as he should be)?

These things are always so hard to know though there’s so so soooo many variables. I really wish contracts were public knowledge like in the US.Complete opposite.
There was a post on WOOF recently (ill see if i can find it) that went through where our salary cap is at after the last trade period, the poster used media-articles to speculate where exactly our cap is at, I believe the conclusion was we should have close to 1m to play with. At the end of the last trade period we lost the following:
JD's 700k+
Hunters 650+
Martin 350k
Wallis 450k
JJ also got heavily reduced on his new contract, that went from 650k down to a rumored 350-400k mark. As said earlier, Schache wasn't on basic income as well, neither was Zaine, both were on (rumored) low to middle of the road numbers. Lobb has come in on a 700k year deal whilst Jones is rumored to be on around 500k.
Long story short, we have some money to spare and realistically could chase a pretty decent target whilst still offering Naughton, Smith and JUH pretty damn decent coin to re-sign. We aren't tight, at all.
(Also as stated elsewhere, going from the ShowMeTheMoneyII documentary on STAN, we aren't paying any of Hunters salary, sounds like a new salary was negotiated at the Demons and his last one with us was torn up).
I get where you’re coming from and agree with the sentiment, but I think Marra & Darce are at least 3 years off commanding mega dollars. In that time Lobb, Jones, Libba, Treloar will free up significant coin, and Macrae and Bonts contracts will be probably over their most lucrative stages and on the way down. The problem is, if JUH and Darcy overtake Naughton, which is a real possibility and something that would not surprise me. Then we will need to fork out a fair bit on just three KPF alone, which will push our future cap tight. Especially given many teams lack decent key forwards. It is a position that would be in hot demand, teams would throw big money around to try entice one to come to their club. Even if we have some cap space, its not as simple as lets chase another gun player. Future planning is also taking in to consideration. Who is coming off contract? What their next contact may command etc.
If we had a bit of cap room, we could chase another decent player. Or we could restructure some big contracts and front load them. So we have a more balanced cap over the next few years and keep the list together. I admire Geelongs list management as they are able to stack their teams, and keep everyone happy, by sticking to a certain structure with their payments. Easily been the best managed team the past 15 years by a long shot.
